My Review
There were a lot of elements I really enjoyed about this book. From a behind the scenes life of a social media influencer and why it’s not always as glamorous as some may think, to the body positivity message the main character shares throughout, and all the delightful scenery Weiner gave us, I thought Big Summer was highly entertaining. I did not see the plot twist coming, and as a fan of murder mystery novels, that added a lot to the storyline that I wouldn’t have expected. The bond Daphne shares with her parents was heartwarming, and I especially enjoyed the scenes with her father. As someone who has shared her life online for the last eleven years and is indeed a full-time influencer, I related to a lot of the virtual trials and tribulations the characters share. I was nodding along in certain areas when it came to working with brands, certain comments we receive, and that was a lot of fun for me to connect with. I did think the editing wasn’t as polished as I typically find from her books, and there were a few moments that I got confused because the plot points weren’t adding up, but I thought the ending was great and overall would highly recommend!
