Chick Lit Plus is pleased to announce the Author of the Month for October is Emily Shaffer, author of That Time of the Month!
What was your feeling when you first say That Time of the Month available for sale?
For years, I have purchased books from Amazon. Many times I’ve clicked to “look inside” the book. The first day that my novel was available, and I clicked to “look inside” and saw the opening words to my novel…words that I had read a million times, I felt a sense of accomplishment I hadn’t felt before. When I finally saw my book for sale, I was finally able to acknowledge that I had achieved a lifelong goal.
Why should readers get their copy of That Time of the Month?
That Time of the Month is a character-driven romantic comedy. Many of Ellie’s antics will resonate with women, and hopefully, make them laugh…a lot! I went in with one goal, to write a book that would make people smile. There is also a current of romance running through the story that will make every gal look around herself for a twinkly-eyed dreamboat.
Giveaway!
I have one print copy of That Time of the Month up for grabs! To enter, please fill out the form below, including your mailing address. Please note this is open for US residents only. A winner will be chosen on Wednesday, October 31. Thanks to Emily Shaffer for sponsoring this giveaway!

Chick Lit Plus is pleased to announce the Author of the Month for September is Jesi Lea Ryan, author of Four Thousand Miles and Arcadia’s Gift!
What was your reaction when you learned that you had been selected as the Debut Author of the Month for Chick Lit Plus?
I am so honored! Honestly, I am humbled and amazed every time someone I don’t know personally tells me that they bought and liked my book. Since I was a little girl, it was always my dream to be a writer. The fact that people will actually seek out my work is icing on the cake.
Why should readers get their copy of Arcadia’s Gift?
I think Arcadia’s Gift will appeal to both teen and adult readers of young adult fiction. Cady has to deal with many family issues that readers will be able to relate to. That she also has these new psychic talents just adds a measure of magic to her. If you liked reading books by L.J. Smith, Amanda Hocking and Lauren Kate, I think you will like it.
I have one eBook copy to giveaway! Enter below by leaving a comment. A winner will be chosen Thursday, October 4. Thanks to Jesi Lea Ryan for sponsoring this giveaway!

Chick Lit Plus is pleased to announce the Debut Author of the Month for August is Cat Lavoie, author of Breaking the Rules!
What was your reaction when you learned that you had been selected as the Debut Author of the Month for Chick Lit Plus?
I was incredibly honored and overjoyed! There was definitely a happy dance (or two) involved in my celebration. I’m so proud to be a chick lit writer and extremely proud of this novel so being recognized by a wonderful site that celebrates and embraces the genre is really awesome.
Why should readers get their copy of Breaking The Rules?
I think that Breaking the Rules is a story that most people can relate to because–at its core–it’s about the bond between family and friends. I might be a bit biased but I fell in love with Roxy and Ollie and I’m hoping readers will connect with them and their journey.
Giveaway!
We will be giving away one Kindle/ePub copy of Breaking the Rules to a lucky winner! To enter, please just leave a comment below. The winner will be chosen on Friday, August 31.

Chick Lit Plus is pleased to announce the Author of the Month for June is Suzan Battah, author of Mad About the Boy and BaSatai: Outside In!
What was your reaction when you learned that you had been selected as the Author of the Month for Chick Lit Plus?
I was over the moon and very honoured to be chosen as the Featured Author of the month. As a fairly new author to the publishing world I’m still struggling to get the word out about my books so when I work with CLP Blog Tours I’m so grateful for the support that comes behind the hard work.
You now have two novels out – romance novel Mad About the Boy and YA sci-fi BaSatai: Outside In. Can you tell us more about what your next project will be?
My next project is continuing to work on the 2nd novel of the BaSatai Trilogy, the title and planning is already there and I’m ready to get going an expected release for the ARCs will be December 2013. It follows Armani’s story and how she learns and grows as a BaSatai. There’ll be more drama, huge twists and turns and big discoveries. For those of you who enjoy a bit of mystery and thinking about the who and why things happen in the BaSatai series, you’re going to LOVE the next book. I’ve had a mixed reaction but remain firm in the journey I’ve taken with the characters. BaSatai is definitely a thinking book, I don’t like to explain too much but rather like the readers to think about why and how things might happen. Visually the BaSatai series will be dynamite on screen. I’m also in the process of writing the sequel to Mad About the Boy – Ben’s story a romantic drama titled Mad About the Girl. It will also be culturally diverse full of romance, love, laughter and drama of course.
Julia Mendoza is driven by the success of her business. Since her husband Carlos passed away at such a young age, her business By Design is her number one priority. In her late twenties she works too hard and doesn’t take time out for fun. Annoyance with a pesky ex-friend has her begging one of the local surfer’s with a cheeky smile in the grocery store to pretend he’s her boyfriend. Suddenly, life takes a sudden detour from her business plan; much to the delight of her boisterous Latin American family. Christophe Augustine is groomed to take over his father’s successful chain of luxurious hotels. With a wealthy French-American background, Chris has been given privileges that not many have. He works hard, plays harder but seeks approval and recognition above all else. Family is a top priority for him as he fights for custody of his young brother. His parent’s divorce has not diminished his faith in romance. When a gorgeous Latino woman changes one boring morning into an interesting game of role play, though reluctant to help at first, he soon realises she’s not like the string of other women he’s known. A romantic first date ending dramatically doesn’t stop Chris from wanting to know Julia more. And for Julia, she’s all for a bit of fun but when things get too serious she’s running the other way. Too alike, in some ways and complete opposites, in other ways, Julia and Chris fumble through fun moments, annoying confrontations, passionate times and heartbreaking revelations. Love has no boundaries when soul-mates meet but when one is ready to love and the other one isn’t….

Author of the Month

Chick Lit Plus is so pleased to announce that our Author of the Month for May is Jennifer Gilbert, author of I Never Promised You A Goodie Bag.
I Never Promised You A Goodie Bag is a warm, wise, alternately painful and funny inspiring memoir of survival, renewal, and transformation. It’s a tale about learning to let go and be happy after years of faking it, proving that while we can’t always control what happens to us, we can control who we become. And instead of anticipating our present in a goodie bag at the end of an event, we realize our presence at every event is the real gift.
In celebration of being our Author of the Month for May, we have asked Jennifer a few questions about receiving the coveted spot on Chick Lit Plus. Please read her answers below:
What was your reaction when you learned that you had been selected as the Author of the Month for Chick Lit Plus?
Totally and completely honored. As May is International Chick Lit month and I am the first author to be selected as the Author of the Month, this is an incredible compliment to me as well as the ‘trailblazing’ route I like to take in life. It’s incredible to me…I’m so awed by this honor and so incredibly appreciative that my book has been chosen and it is a vote of confidence that this book has resonated with you and hopefully many others.
How does it feel to have your book so well-received by the public?
I am overwhelmed by gratitude. I have bared my soul in this book and am so nervous about how it will be received, so when I read the positive feedback it literally brings me to tears, I’m so overwhelmed. It reassures me that I NEVER PROMISED YOU A GOODIE BAG is relatable to everyone who has their own story. We ALL have something in our life that has held us back, or propelled us forward. If my story helps people to realize that we have the choice to be better, to change and let go, then I have accomplished so much more than writing a memoir.
Thank you so much Jennifer for allowing us to review your book!
Please be sure to get your hands on I Never Promised You A Goodie Bag – a definite 5 star on Chick Lit Plus. Chick Lit Plus will be giving away two copies of the book, so leave a comment below and we will select a winner at random. Winners can choose between a print copy and eBook, but please note print copies will only be available for US/Canada residents. Thanks!
