Dancing With the Stars Season 13 Cast Announced

Alrighty all you dancing divas, it’s time to bust out the glitter and spray tans once again. That’s right, the next cast of Dancing With the Stars has finally been revealed, and it’s shaping up to be an interesting season. Here are the mirror ball hopefuls:

Chaz Bono- 42, LGBT activist and Cher’s….son

David Arquette- 39, actor and Courteney Cox’s husband (though the couple are currently separated)

Kristin Cavallari- 24, reality star and jilted fiancée of Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler

Rob Kardashian- 24, reality star….and a Kardashian

Carson Kressley- 41, fashion guru and….

Ron Artest- 31, LA Laker player, currently trying to change his name to Metta World Peace (no joke)

Elisabetta Canalis-32, um….George Clooney’s ex girlfriend, also a model and actress

Chynna Philips- 43, singer-actress, husband Billy Baldwin is a DWTS alum

Nancy Grace- 51, TV host and quite opinioned former prosecutor

JR Martinez- 28, Soap opera star and veteran who was hit with a land mine in the Iraq War in 2003

Ricki Lake- 42,  former TV host, and newly engaged actress

Hope Solo- 30, US Women’s Soccer goalie, had an amazing save against Brazil that shot her to stardom

Celebrity Rant: Kelly Osbourne on Kate Middleton

I don’t usually take to my blog to vent about celebrities, but this article really had me stewing. I gave it a few weeks to see if I would become less angry, but…I’m still pretty angry when I think about it. Kelly Osbourne, who I have always been a big fan of, slammed Kate Middleton aka Duchess of Cambridge for Kate’s repeated use of, well, repeating outfits. The Duchess has often been photographed wearing the same labels and even the same articles of clothing. Oh the shock and horror. When Osbourne, who cohost the E! show Fashion Police,  appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno earlier in the month, she took a stab at Middleton, saying, “In England they’re like, ‘Look how thrifty she’s being, showing the British public that the Royals are in a recession as well.’ Only in this country they call it a faux pas. I’m sorry, but if I had that job I would only wear it once. If I am going to be the future bloody Queen of England I’m going to wear that dress once because I’m giving up the rest of my life, all of my privacy. At least I can get a new dress every day!”

I kept digging deep to figure out why these statements bothered me so much. And I think it’s because I’m increasingly bothered by celebrities in general in our society. The USA was plummeted into a recession, is very well heading towards another one, have had horrible natural disasters strike, like the devastating tornado that hit Joplin, Missouri, yet we “normal” folk have to watch the news about how celebrities spend their money. And talk about frivolous. It wasn’t too long after the Joplin tornado that Kim Kardashian received at 20.5 carat ring from Kris Humphries. I’ve read about Rachel Zoe spending $87,000 on her baby’s nursery. And then to read about reality TV stars such as the Jersey Shore cast and Kate Gosselin and the ridiculous amounts of money they pull in and spend all on themselves. It’s a little sickening. Maybe people like me look up to someone like Kate Middleton, who doesn’t let that fact the she is now royalty and can have anything she wants go to her head. Maybe we appreciate a real role model who we know we won’t see in a sex tape or doing cartwheels while wearing no panties while out wasted a bar some night. Does anyone else agree with me here? I’m just getting tired of seeing celebs feel the need to have three houses, ten cars, closets full of clothes they never wear, etc., while so much of the country struggles. Do I think celebrities are to blame or should single handily fix us? No, of course not. But I wish people that are more privileged than most could understand that not everyone lives their lavish lives. I personally appreciate Kate Middleton and what she stands for. The more you read about celebrities, politicians, athletes, and anyone else with a large bank account and have a media presence, you see they mostly care about themselves. Greed, lust, sloth, wrath, envy…anyone catching the Seven Deadly Sins here when it comes to them? And again, to make sure I’m not offending everyone with the title “celebrity” attached to them- I don’t mean all of them. There are certainly celebrities like the Jolie-Pitts, George Clooney, Matt Damon, etc. that are constantly in the news because they are giving back in some way or another. Even Drew Barrymore and Hayden Panettiere are making headlines for their charitable donations. Is it possible to be rich and famous without being a snob and inconsiderate? Yes. Is it possible to be royalty and still have a solid head on your shoulders? Yes. Thank you Kate Middleton for wearing the same outfits and showing that just because you’re famous doesn’t have to mean you’re out of touch with the rest of the world and have to succumb to the pressures that are placed on you. And shame on you Kelly Osbourne for calling her out because of it. I think we need more Kate Middleton’s for children and young people- and heck, even myself- to look up to. Who else is your ten year old daughter seeing on the TV- Snooki and OctoMom? What a frightening thought.

Jessica Alba Welcomes Baby Girl

It’s another girl for Jessica Alba and Cash Warren! The couple welcomed daughter Haven Garner Warren on Saturday, and Alba shared the good news on her Facebook page. “She was born on Saturday, weighed 7 lbs and was 19 inches long. Healthy and happy! Big sister Honor couldn’t be more excited about the new addition to our family.” Haven joins Honor Marie, 3.

Hilary Duff Pregnant!

Hilary Duff is pregnant! The former Disney star, who married pro hockey player Mike Comrie on August 14^th last year, announced on her website the good news. “This weekend, Mike and I are celebrating our one year anniversary! In memory of the special day, we decided to post some of our favorite pictures from our wedding! I can’t believe it has already been a year. Time really flies when you’re having fun! We also want to share the exciting news that baby makes three! We are extremely happy and ready to start this new chapter of our lives. Thanks to everyone for the continued love and support throughout the years!” This will be the first child for Duff, 23, and Comrie, 30.

Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony Split

Anyone else surprised by this news? After seven years of what seemed to be a happy marriage, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony have decided to end their marriage. People.com broke the news, which included a joint statement from the musical couple, “We have decided to end our marriage. This was a very difficult decision. We have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. It is a painful time for all involved, and we appreciate the respect of our privacy at this time.” Lopez, 41, and Anthony, 42, were married in 2004 in Beverly Hills. They have two children together- 3-year-old twins Max and Emme.

Beckham’s Welcome Baby Girl

The Beckham’s finally have another girl in the house! UsMagazine.com reported that Victoria and David Beckham welcomed their baby girl, Harper Seven, at 7:55 a.m. Sunday morning at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles. This is the first daughter for the couple, who have been married for twelve years and have sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, 8, and Cruz, 6. Baby Harper weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz., and a rep for the family released this statement: “David and Victoria Beckham are delighted. Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz are excited to welcome their new baby sister to the family.” Wondering about the name choice? The middle name, Seven, is in reference to David’s old soccer jersey number when he played for Manchester United. Do you like thename?

A Boy for Natalie Portman!

It’s a boy for Natalie Portman! People.com revealed that the Oscar winning actress, 30, and her fiancé, Benjamin Millepied, welcomed a baby boy into their lives. No word on the name or any other details as of yet have been released. This is the first child for the couple, who met on the set of Black Swan.

Crystal Harris Splits from Hugh Hefner

Well who saw this one coming? Just four days before their much anticipated nuptials, the wedding between Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris has been officially called off. TMZ was the first to break the news. Harris, 25, and a Playboy playmate, through her website, “After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.” The wedding, set for this Saturday the 18^th, was going to be held at the Playboy Mansion, and over 300 guests were expected to attend. Any guesses on why the sudden cancellation? And I wonder how Holly Madison will react to this news…

Pink Welcomes Baby Girl

Pink is thinking pink! The singer and her husband, Carey Hart, welcomed a baby girl on Thursday in Los Angeles. Pink posted this to her Twitter account: “We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart. She’s gorgeous, just like her daddy. #beyondblessed.” This is the first child for Pink, 31, who confirmed her pregnancy in November.

Kim Kardashian Engaged

Kim K finally landed her man. After years of wanting to be married (for a second time) Kim Kardashian said yes to New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, her boyfriend of six months. Kardashian, 30, let People Magazine in on her exciting news, telling them Humphries proposed to her at home in her bedroom, and had rose petals spelling out the words,” WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Kardashian’s mom/manager, Kris Jenner, was in on the surprise, and helped plan an intimate family celebration for later that evening. Kardashian told People, “I didn’t expect this at all. I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now.”

Oh, were you wondering about the ring? Kim seems to be giving little sister Khloe a run for her money. While Khloe’s sparkler from husband (also a NBA player) Lamar Odom, weighs in at 12.5 carats, Kim beats that with, ready for it, a 20.5 carat custom designed Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring. How big will Kourtney’s ring be if she ever gets engaged? I’m not sure I want to know.
