Crystal Harris Splits from Hugh Hefner

Well who saw this one coming? Just four days before their much anticipated nuptials, the wedding between Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris has been officially called off. TMZ was the first to break the news. Harris, 25, and a Playboy playmate, through her website, “After much deep reflection and thought I have decided to end my engagement with Hef. I have the utmost respect for Hef and wish him the best going forward. I hope the media will give each of us the privacy we deserve during this time.” The wedding, set for this Saturday the 18^th, was going to be held at the Playboy Mansion, and over 300 guests were expected to attend. Any guesses on why the sudden cancellation? And I wonder how Holly Madison will react to this news…

Kim Kardashian Engaged

Kim K finally landed her man. After years of wanting to be married (for a second time) Kim Kardashian said yes to New Jersey Nets forward Kris Humphries, her boyfriend of six months. Kardashian, 30, let People Magazine in on her exciting news, telling them Humphries proposed to her at home in her bedroom, and had rose petals spelling out the words,” WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Kardashian’s mom/manager, Kris Jenner, was in on the surprise, and helped plan an intimate family celebration for later that evening. Kardashian told People, “I didn’t expect this at all. I was in such shock. I never thought it would happen at home, and I never thought now.”

Oh, were you wondering about the ring? Kim seems to be giving little sister Khloe a run for her money. While Khloe’s sparkler from husband (also a NBA player) Lamar Odom, weighs in at 12.5 carats, Kim beats that with, ready for it, a 20.5 carat custom designed Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring. How big will Kourtney’s ring be if she ever gets engaged? I’m not sure I want to know.

Catherine Middleton a Princess

Kate is a princess. Er, I mean a Duchess. I was one of the many who got up early in the morning to watch Catherine Middleton marry her own Prince Charming- Prince William. Kate’s dress had been highly kept under wraps, but it was revealed on Friday morning it is an Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton, the label’s creative director. The train was two meters long, and Kate wore a long veil that covered her face as she walked up the aisle.  Other highlights of the wedding:

• Kate’s sister and maid of honor, Pippa, looking absolutely stunning in a sleek ivory gown- also an Alexander McQueen.
• Prince William telling Kate she looked beautiful when she finally made it to the altar- I was lip reading.
• Princesses Beatrice and Eugenia and their fashionable fascinators.
• The looks Prince William kept shooting Kate throughout the ceremony. The love was so evident.

The wedding was absolutely beautiful, full of love and romance. Kate was the perfect mixture of a traditional and modern bride, and everything seemingly went off without a hitch. The Queen announced their official titles are now Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Who else watched the royal wedding? What did you think of Kate’s dress? What was your favorite part of the wedding?

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz Files for Divorce

While her sister’s romance heats up, Ashlee Simpson’s has hit the ice. The singer filed for divorce from her husband of two and half years, Pete Wentz. People.com released this joint statement from the couple, “After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. We remain friends and deeply committed and loving parents to our son Bronx, whose happiness and well-being remains our No. 1 priority. We ask that everyone honor our privacy as we navigate this next phase of our lives.”

Simpson, 26, cited “irreconcilable differences” on documents filed with the L.A. Superior Court on Tuesday, and is seeking spousal support. She is also seeking full primary physical custody of their 2-year-old son, Bronx, with visitation for Wentz, and dropping the hyphenated Wentz from her last name. The youngest Simpson daughter married Wentz, now 31, in May 2008 and welcomed Bronx in November.

Reese Witherspoon Engaged to Jim Toth

Reese Witherspoon is making it official. People.com confirmed that the actress is engaged to boyfriend of one year, Jim Toth. Witherspoon, 34, and Toth, 40, began dating last January and grew serious fast. Toth has met and bonded with Witherspoon’s children, Ava, 11, and Deacon, 7. This will be the second marriage for Witherspoon, who divorced from actor Ryan Phillippe in 2006 after seven years of marriage. Toth works as an agent for the Creative Arts Agency in Los Angeles, and Witherspoon can currently be seen in the romantic comedy How Do You Know.

Hugh Hefner, 84, Engaged

Who saw this coming? At age 84, Playboy founder Hugh Hefner is engaged. The ladies man, known to have multiple girlfriends, proposed to just one lucky lady, Playmate girlfriend Crystal Harris, 24, on Christmas Eve. Hef announced the news on Twitter: “After the movie tonight, Crystal & I exchanged gifts. I gave Crystal a ring. A truly memorable Christmas Eve. When I gave Crystal the ring, she burst into tears. This is the happiest Christmas weekend in memory.” He later clarified: “Yes, the ring I gave Crystal is an engagement ring. I didn’t mean to make a mystery out of it. A very merry Christmas to all.”

This will be the third marriage for Hef, the first for Harris. No wedding date was announced.

Tony Romo Engaged to Candice Crawford

Anyone else tied to Jessica Simpson going to get engaged? Not only has Simpson herself recently gotten engaged, ex-husband Nick Lachey popped the question to girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo, but now Simpson’s ex, Tony Romo, has proposed to his girlfriend! The Dallas Cowboys quarterback popped the question to girlfriend Candice Crawford (brother is Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl) Thursday night during her 24th birthday dinner in Dallas. Romo, 30, began dating the former beauty queen in September 2009, only two months after breaking things off with Simpson. The ring is approximated at four carats. No word yet on when the wedding will be.

Wait! Didn’t Romo break up with Jessica Simpson on her birthday? And now he proposes to his next girlfriend on her birthday? Hmm…interesting.

Scarlett Johansson, Ryan Reynolds Split

What is eating Hollywood? It seems to be the week for breakups- and it’s only Tuesday! Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens split after four years of dating, Jennifer Connelly and Michael C. Hall are on their way to a divorce, and now Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds have separated! People.com reported the news, and released this joint statement form the couple, “”After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated.”

A source close to the couple says Johansson initiated the split and the couple has been separated for six months. Johansson, 26, and Reynolds, 34, have been known for their hush-hush relationship, rarely speaking out about each other. They married in 2008 in Reynold’s hometown of Vancouver, with only friends and family to witness the ceremony, and no wedding photos were ever released. The couple have no children.

Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens Split

One of Hollywood’s youngest golden couples has called it quits. People.com reported that High School Musical stars Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens have split after four years together. A source tells People that “they are 100 percent still good friends.” Efron, 23, is filming The Lucky One in New Orleans, and Hudgens, who turns 22 on Tuesday, is working on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island in Hawaii. No reason was given for the split.

Nicole Richie & Joel Madden Marry

Nicole Richie is a married woman! After four years together, Nicole Richie married Joel Madden in front of about 130 family members and friends on Saturday, according to People.com. Richie, 29, wore a wedding dress by Marchesa, and the rings were designed by jeweler Neil Lane. Guests at the wedding included the groom’s twin brother and Good Charlotte bandmate Benji Madden, Sam Ronson, and Gwen Stefani and husband Gavin Rosedale. Richie and Madden, 31, became engaged in February and have two children together.
