irene in collegeSummary:

In book 1 of The Life & Times Series, “Irene in College”, Irene comes face-to-face with the realization that college is anything but easy. At the mercy of an insufferable mother, pompous boyfriend, malevolent best friend, dim-witted nuisance, and an ineffable college professor, what would be easy about it? Come join Irene as she learns how to deal with it all.

Irene thought college would be the easy part—get good grades, make new friends, and say good-bye to a daunting past. Little did she know that the whimsy of life would have other plans for her!

Review:

To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book when I first picked it up. The cover didn’t necessarily draw me in or intrigue me, but this is a classic case of not judging a book by the cover. This is a fast-paced story that left me wanting to read book 2 from this series when it’s ready. Irene is the typical college student – trying to juggle guys, friends, money and family throughout her studies and student life. There is a lot going on in this book – from serious family drama to domestic abuse – but the book never felt too heavy or hard to read. I was highly impressed with the writing from Lori Goldson, and I’ll say it again – I look forward to more from this series.
