No Love for Britney Down Under

Would you be upset if you paid $148 to watch Britney Spears lip synch on stage? Australia certainly is. There has been much backlash after Spears performed on Friday, lip synching to quite a few numbers in her “Circus” tour. Hundreds of fans reportedly stormed out of the concert in the Burswood Dome in the Western Australia city of Perth, citing disappointment by the lackluster performance and lip synched songs. One fan said, “It was so impersonal. She did not interact with her audience. There were no big TV screens projecting the action, so if you didn’t know Britney, you might have even doubted it was her.” People.com reports that not all fans were that upset. Many of the satisfied concert goers took her website and praised her show and performance. Spears is next scheduled to perform in Melbourne on November 11th.
After People.com ran this story, Usmagazine
had a different story to spin. According to Spears’ tour promoter Paul Dainty, the alleged walkouts never happened at the Australian concerts. Spears’ manager Adam Leber had this comment to make on the singer’s Twitter account: “Its unfortunate that one journalist in Perth didn’t enjoy the show last night. Fortunately the other 18,272 fans in attendance did. – Adam.”

Miley Cyrus Named Worse Celeb Influence-By Tweens
October 31, 2009 by Samantha

Ah, finally some Miley Cyrus news that I can agree with. Sixteen year old Miley has been named the 2009 Worst Celebrity Influence. To make it worse for Miss Miley, this was not a poll taken by adults that would be turned off by her choices, outfits, and dance moves. No, no, this poll is strictly for tweens- kids between the ages of 9-15. So why is her fan base suddenly turning against her? Why did 42% vote for Miley Cyrus, while Britney Spears only received 27% and Kayne West 19% of votes? My take would be that Brittney and Kayne don’t claim to be role models for tweens. They are adults; they make mature videos, sing about mature topics, that’s what adults do. But why is a sixteen year old dancing on a pole and making a music video where viewers can almost completely see up her shorts? I can only hope that people are realizing what a mess Miley Cyrus is, and can only imagine it is going to get worse before getting any better. I agree completely with this poll, taking by JSYK.com (Just So You Know), an AOL pop culture blog.
On the other side of the poll, Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, Taylor Swift, Emma Watson, and Justin Bieber were named “Best Celeb Influence.” Way to go kids.
