Carrie Underwood Lands Movie Role

Carrie Underwood has landed her first movie role! People.com reports the country superstar will be headed to Oahu to play a supporting role in an inspirational feature film based on the teen surfing sensation Bethany Hamilton, who lost her left arm in 2003 after it was bitten off by a tiger shark. Underwood will be portraying Sarah Hill, a youth counselor at Hamilton’s church. The cast also includes Anna Sophia Robb as Hamilton, and Dennis Quaid and Helen Hunt as her parents.

Carrie Underwood To Sing at Superbowl

The Superbowl will be filled with superstars for its musical performances. Carrie Underwood has been slated to sing the national anthem on February 7th, when the Indianapolis Colts will take on the New Orleans Saints. Queen Latifah will also perform “America the Beautiful” and The Who will be the entertainment during half time.

Sandra Bullock, Taylor Swift Win Big at People’s Choice …

The People’s Choice Awards kicked off Hollywood’s award season, airing live last night from L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. Queen Latifah was the host for the night, and fans saw there favorites including Sandra Bullock and Taylor Swift win big. Bullock beat out other big names such as Jennifer Aniston and Kristen Stewart to win favorite movie actress, and her movie The Proposal with Ryan Reynolds also grabbed the award for favorite comedy.
Taylor Swift, after sweeping almost all other award shows earlier in the year, won for favorite female artist, but lost to Carrie Underwood as favorite country artist. Underwood has won that award two years in a row.
Twilight was also a fan favorite, picking up awards for favorite movie, favorite on-screen team (an award given out to the entire cast) and favorite franchise. Taylor Lautner also won favorite breakout actor.

Carrie Underwood Engaged!

Carrie Underwood is engaged! People.com reports that Ottawa Senators hockey player Mike Fisher proposed to the country star at his home Sunday afternoon. Fisher’s rep released this statement, “I’m happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn’t be happier. No wedding date has been set at this time.” Underwood, 26, and Fisher, 29, have been dating for over a year, keeping their relationship mostly private.

Swift Sweeps

Well Taylor Swift sure had a good night. The 19 year old country singer swept at the CMA’s ousting co-host Carrie Underwood for Female Vocalist of the Year and shocking all the boys, beating out big names such as Brad Paisley, George Straight, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban for Entertainer of the Year, the highest award. Swift immediately started crying once her name was called for Entertainer of the Year, and called her band to come onstage with her during her acceptance speech. “I will never forget this moment because in this moment everything I have ever wanted has just happened to me,” she said, not able to wipe the shell shocked expression of her face.

Rihanna to Perform at AMA’s

Rihanna has yet another item to add to her busy schedule- performing at this year’s American Music Awards. The singer, 21, will take the stage November 22nd on ABC, People.com is reporting. Rihanna has performed at the event in both 2007 and 2008, and has also won 3 AMA’s for her work.
Other singers set to perform include: Kelly Clarkson, The Black Eyed Peas, Adam Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Daughtry, Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Lopez.
