Star by Pamela Anderson

Anyone who enjoys anything about celebrities and the Hollywood gossip will need to put Star on their list of must-reads. And the surprising author? None other than famous, shameless, yet loveable Pamela Anderson. Star is undoubtedly based off of Anderson’s real life- being discovered in a tight t-shirt at a football game, appearing on covers of men’s magazines, donning a tiny one piece in a TV show about lifeguards-but what I really enjoyed about this book is that it is not all fact. There is fiction written, and as a reader we can try to guess what is real life and what is not.
The scenarios that we read are sexy, humorous, compelling, and jaw dropping. Jaw dropping to say the least. Sex, drugs, and more sex including group orgies at what may or may not be the Playboy Mansion fill the pages of this steamy debut novel from Pamela Anderson. The writing is surprisingly witty and believable, and the cliff hanger at the end makes us excited for the follow up. This memorable book will make you think, will make you cringe, but best of all will make you laugh, as you can’t help but fall in love with the somehow believable heroine.

Melrose Place is going to be short a few residents. Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, along with Colin Egglesfield, have been let go by the CW series, as reported on UsMagazine.com. Executive producers are saying that this cut was known before the series started, that the characters would have a limited run on the show. They are shooting down rumors that the cut happened because of poor ratings, or anything to do with Ashlee’s acting abilities. Simpson-Wentz’s last episode will air in January.

Kardashian’s Have a ‘Hunch’ On Kourtney’s Robbery

Kris Jenner spoke on Ryan Seacrest’s morning show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, about the robbery that occurred at her daughter Kourtney’s Calabasas, CA home on October 17th. The robbers got away with over $100,000 worth of jewelry. Jenner was quoted as saying the robbery did seem fishy, because the thieves had to know when the cameras would not be rolling for the E! reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and also had to know when the alarm system was not activated. This suggests an inside job, and Jenner, who spoke along with Khloe Kardashian, is hoping to have the case solved quickly. One piece that was stolen, a watch, happens to be of great sentimental value to the family. The watch belonged to Robert Kardashain, the girls’ late father that Jenner had passed down to their first daughter, Kourtney.

The Truth About Diamonds by Nicole Richie

The Truth About Diamonds by Nicole Richie (Hollywood socialite, in case you were unaware), is a sort of memoir on her own life. After seeing what BFF Paris Hilton could do with a book deal, I can’t say I was real excited to crack this one open. But I have always been a fan of Nicole, so I thought I would give her a shot.
You follow Chloe, the main character that is based off Nicole’s life. She leads you through all her downfalls, the drugs she was on, entering rehab at a young age, a parent’s messy divorce, and the ups and downs with Simone, another rich socialite who is Chloe’s BFF (eh em, Paris Hilton). I felt my heart tug at a few chapters (surprising me) really feeling and believing the characters as I watched their lives play out. Each and every supporting and small character came alive with vigor and I felt as though I could be transported into the ‘famous for being famous’ life.
This book was written while Riche and Hilton were going through their now quite famous feud, and Riche goes all out on trashing Simone (who is clearly based upon Hilton). As the novel takes us through the years, we realize how evil and manipulative Simone can be, trying to take as much of the spotlight away from her gal pal to put her on top, even all throughout the girls’ reality show (The Simple Life).
Though the writing wasn’t completely stellar, I think it showed how much effort Nicole Richie actually put into writing this chick lit novel, and not wanting to have a ghostwriter. Some of the language perplexed me, and more than once was I confused at where the plot was going, but a strong finish kept me thinking about the characters and their lives even after I turned the last page.

The First Assistant by Clare Naylor & Mimi Hare is a chick lit riot. Attempt to keep up with Lizzie Miller as she powers her way through the Hollywood elite as an assistant to a scurvy boss with a thing for young models, who also happens to be the husband of Lizzie’s bestie. Travel to Thailand as Lizzie watches over her hotter than thou young client, learning valuable lessons about Hollywood, love, and life in general. As Lizzie’s own love life collapses when her and her wealthy almost-fiancée, Luke Lloyd, are forced to work on separate continents, Lizzie has to decide what is best for her- continue the circus ride that is Hollywood, or throw it all behind to be the housewife that Luke wants her to be. This tale draws you in ‘behind the curtain’ of the Hollywood scene, making you feel that you are right in the mix with the elite and wealthy.
The Beginning
Chick Lit Plus was started in October of 2009, and is devoted not only to books of the chick lit genre, but also interests of chick lit fans. Having so many different interests myself, it took me awhile to come up with a website that would tie all of them together. After discovering chick lit books about two years ago, I became fascinated with the different worlds I could escape to by opening the cover of books that were decorated with glamour, shoes, shopping bags, and of course- a loveable heroine. After reading an extensive collection, I decided I could turn my hobby into something useful, alas ChickLitPlus.com was created. Here there is book reviews, author information, and after surveying other readers, I choose the top three interests- celebrity gossip, fashion (of course) and health and fitness for others to read. I will keep on top of all the subjects, and promise that each review posted is my personal opinions, not just a review that can be pulled off of any site.
If there is any book that is not on this site and you would like to see reviewed, please email me the title and author and I will get that reviewed and posted. That is the same for any subject besides book review, you can email me any subjects you would like written about or questions you may have and I will do my best to answer those.
Disclaimer:
Each review is solely my personal opinion. I strive to be honest and professional in each review. Information about individual authors is found on the author’s official website, which is listed with each biography. If you are an author or a publisher and do not want reviews or biographies listed on this website, please contact me and I will remove them immediately. Celebrity news and fashion advice is found on various websites relating directly to these topics such as people.com and eonline.com. Health and fitness tips are based on my own experiences or professional opinions, found in magazine’s such as Women’s Health and Shape Magazine. Respective owners will be sited in each and every article. I am in no way claiming to be in expert in any field, and if there is ever a discrepancy found in any articles, please contact me. This is meant to be a fun site for all fans of the chick lit genre and relating topics.
