I have seen a beauty trend popping up in all the magazines for this month: turquoise is in. This is great for me, because I love blues, especially turquoise and aquamarine, which is my birthstone. Cosmopolitan magazine had some beauty tips for wearing this Caribbean hue, such as painting your toenails or just the tips of your fingernails. Also try out some liquid eye shadow or enhance your eyes even further with CoverGirl’s Eye Enhancers with the shade Turquoise Tempest, only $3.47.
Big, Beautiful Hair

Another hot style for this holiday season? Big, beautiful hair! But what is the secret to getting your hair to curl properly and stay put during the parties? The first weapon is having the proper tool. Usmagazine recommends the T3 EverTwirl Curling Iron, which uses the same technology as a flatiron to increase curl longevity. To begin, while your hair is wet make a side part, and apply a volumizing mousse. Then begin blow drying your hair, brushing through the strands with a round brush to help get hair smooth and shiny. Once hair is dry, wrap small sections around the barrel of the curling iron. Pin each curl up and let sit for 10 minutes. Spray with hairspray and unpin. To get a more natural look, run your fingers through the curls.

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella

Shopaholic Takes Manhattan is Sophie Kinsella’s follow-up to Confessions of a Shopaholic. Becky Bloomwood is back, after paying off all her high flying debts she accumulated on her multiple shopping sprees. Since paying off those debts, along with her new job of financial advisor on a morning talk show, Becky has the mind set that she is free and clear to shop her fashionable little heart out again. You see it coming: the collection letters in the mail, her new bank manager offering no sympathetic ear, and the continuous downward spiral of her shopaholic life.
It only gets worse after Becky’s famed PR boyfriend, Luke Lloyd, moves them across the pond to New York City, in hopes of opening a new branch. Becky’s financial woes are leaked to the press, causing lost deals for both Becky and Luke, and Becky boards a plane back to London, thousands of dollars gone and worse, single. You ache for Becky even though you are well aware that it is her fault; how could she let herself spend thousands of dollars on one dress or hundreds of dollars on some new makeup? Now Becky has no hopes in getting a job and prepared to hit rock bottom.
But like all good chick lit books, Kinsella finds a way for Becky to come out on top. The last few chapters fly by with action, deceit, new opportunities, and the ultimate cliff hanger in the last page of the book. We know that a third book in this series will be coming, and I look forward to it as much as I did this well written second novel.
The Beginning
Chick Lit Plus was started in October of 2009, and is devoted not only to books of the chick lit genre, but also interests of chick lit fans. Having so many different interests myself, it took me awhile to come up with a website that would tie all of them together. After discovering chick lit books about two years ago, I became fascinated with the different worlds I could escape to by opening the cover of books that were decorated with glamour, shoes, shopping bags, and of course- a loveable heroine. After reading an extensive collection, I decided I could turn my hobby into something useful, alas ChickLitPlus.com was created. Here there is book reviews, author information, and after surveying other readers, I choose the top three interests- celebrity gossip, fashion (of course) and health and fitness for others to read. I will keep on top of all the subjects, and promise that each review posted is my personal opinions, not just a review that can be pulled off of any site.
If there is any book that is not on this site and you would like to see reviewed, please email me the title and author and I will get that reviewed and posted. That is the same for any subject besides book review, you can email me any subjects you would like written about or questions you may have and I will do my best to answer those.
Disclaimer:
Each review is solely my personal opinion. I strive to be honest and professional in each review. Information about individual authors is found on the author’s official website, which is listed with each biography. If you are an author or a publisher and do not want reviews or biographies listed on this website, please contact me and I will remove them immediately. All reviews and written content on this website are copyrighted to their respective owners, as well as all book covers and art are copyrighted to their respective publishing companies and/or authors.
Celebrity news and fashion advice is found on various websites relating directly to these topics such as people.com and eonline.com. Health and fitness tips are based on my own experiences or professional opinions, found in magazine’s such as Women’s Health and Shape Magazine. Respective owners will be sited in each and every article. I am in no way claiming to be in expert in any field, and if there is ever a discrepancy found in any articles, please contact me. This is meant to be a fun site for all fans of the chick lit genre and relating topics.
ChickLitPlus.com provides links to other websites, but is in no way responsible for the content of the other sites. I will not knowingly link to a site that encourages illegal behavior, racism, hate, violence or any other extremely objectionable material.
