Dr. Conrad Murray Charged in Michael Jackson’s Death

dr conrad murrayDr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s person physician, was charged Monday with involuntary manslaughter for allegedly giving Jackson lethal levels of an anesthetic while treating the King of Pop at his bedside for insomnia. The charge filed by the Los Angeles District Attorney alleges Murray “did unlawfully, and without malice, kill Michael Joseph Jackson,” according to People.com. Murray, 57, surrendered today at a courthouse and was quickly handcuffed upon arrival.

Grammy’s to Feature 3-D Tribute to Michael Jackson

michael jacksonThis year’s Grammy Awards will include a special tribute to the late King of Pop. People.com has reported that the star studded award show will feature a tribute to Michael Jackson, including a 3-D film clip that was made before his June 25th death. Viewers will need special 3-D glasses in order to view the clip, which will be for Jackson’s “Earth Song”, an integral part that was to be included in Jackson’s comeback concerts. This will be the first time the Grammy’s will have aired a 3-D clip.

Jackson will also be honored with a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy during the show.

Swift, Jackson, Win Big at AMA’s

amasIt shouldn’t have come as a big surprise, but Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift were the night’s big winners at the AMA Awards. Swift had previously swept the Country Music Awards- beating out the big boys for Entertainer of the Year. Last night, the 19 year old singer won Favorite Artist of the Year- beating out the King of Pop for the honor. Swift was not in attendance, as she was in London, but accepted her awards via satellite. When she for Favorite Artist of the Year, Swift was clearly in shock and speechless before saying, “To even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson … is an unimaginable honor. I’m sending my love to the Jackson family.”

Michael Jackson won 4 awards, making his AMA total at 23 awards. The late singer won for Favorite Soul/R&B Artist, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Vocalist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Soul/R&B Album, both for Number Ones. His brother Jermaine accepted his award on Jackson’s behalf.

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri…Together Again?

Janet Jackson and Jermaine Dupri have apparently landed on ‘on’ in their on again-off again relationship. People.comjanet_jackson reported that the pair, who had apparently broke things off around the time of Michael Jackson’s death, “never really broke up. Jermaine wanted to give her some space when Michael died.” Of the rumors that two are also getting married- well Dupri wouldn’t confirm or deny that talk. “They’ve been saying that for years and you don’t see a ring on my finger,” he told People Friday at a Prive Las Vegas party to launch his Nu Pop Movement watch line.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It Gets More Theater Time

The documentary shows rehearsal scenes of the King of Pop preparing for a comeback tour in London. So far, This Is It has pulled in $101 million worldwide in five days, and Sony has decided to extend the dates, giving more fans the opportunity to see Michael Jackson’s final days.

Michael Jackson’s This Is It Pulls In $2.2 Mil

michael-jacksonMichael Jackson’s This Is It is a hit. The film earned a whopping $2.2 million dollars in the late night screenings in North America, the Associated Press has reported. This Is It is filled with clips of Jackson’s last days, when he was preparing for his series of comeback tours set for London. The rehearsal footage shows Jackson and his dancers perfecting their moves, just two days before his death at age 50. According to the Associated Press, Wednesday’s numbers are predicated to double from Tuesday.
