santorini sunsetsSantorini Sunsets: A Novel by Anita Hughes – August 2, 2016. I get so excited when I see that a new Anita Hughes novel is being published. Her stories are always set in exotic locals, and I find it comforting to slip into the beautiful worlds that Hughes creates for her characters. In her latest, we have a big celebrity wedding on the Greek Island of Santorini. New York socialite Brigit Palmer is about to marry Blake Crawford, everyone’s favorite Hollywood heartthrob. It seems like a dream come true until Brigit discovers her ex-husband, Nathaniel, is on the island – and it’s not a coincidence. He’s there to cover her wedding for Hello magazine, and Blake sanctioned the arrangement. Without telling Brigit, Blake sold the rights to their wedding for two million dollars (to be donated to charity). Nathaniel also has some dirt on Mr. Hollywood that could create even more chaos for the big event.

a week in parisA Week in Paris: A Novel by Rachel Hore – August 9, 2016. Faye is a successful violinist who’s excited to be visiting Paris for the first time. Even though she’s never been there before, Paris feels strangely familiar to her. When she returns home, Faye discovers an old suitcase that belonged to her mother. The luggage tag causes her to realize she does in fact have a deep connection to Paris. Faye soon finds herself in the past, Paris 1937, on the eve of World War II. It was a night that altered the course of her mother’s life and leads Faye to question who she is – and the course of her own life.

can i see you againCan I See You Again? by Allison Morgan – August 9, 2016.  Bree Caxton is a popular matchmaker with a 98% success rate. Her talent for helping her clients find “the one” is so revered that she lands a book deal. The week before the book hits the shelves, Bree’s fiancée breaks up with her. The book’s sales and Bree’s reputation depend on her having a happy personal life. Mortified and about to go on book tour, Bree asks former client Nixon Voss (whom she was unable to successfully match) to pose as her boyfriend. Her fans love Nixon, which complicates matters – especially when the ex-fiancée decides he wants Bree back.

first star i see tonightFirst Star I See Tonight by Susan Elizabeth Phillips – August 23, 2016. Phillips is my all-time favorite author of romantic comedies. In her lest novel, she revisits the Chicago Stars football team, which spawned a series of fan favorites (this is the 8th book in the Stars series, but they can be read out of order). Chicago private detective Piper Dove is hired to follow the former quarterback of the Stars, Cooper Graham. Mr. Graham is not happy about this and does everything he can to “lose” the private eye. Eventually Piper ends up working for Coop, who hires her to investigate some employees at his new nightclub. Working so closely with Cooper unsettles Piper, especially after she discovers that his life is in danger. Will a man like Cooper – a successful super-star athlete – let Piper help him?

They were all married to the same man – Deacon Thorpe. Deacon is a celebrated chef who dies suddenly at his home on Nantucket. The three women, according to Deacon’s final wish, must come together on Nantucket to say their final goodbye. Not an easy task given that the three women detest one another. Sunshine Beach by Wendy WaxSunshine Beach by Wendy Wax – June 21, 2016. This is the fourth installment in the Ten Beach Road Series. I’m eager to catch up with my girls, Maddie, Avery and Nikki – although I am still upset that Deidre died in the last book (The House on Mermaid Point). Avery is still struggling with her grief over her mother’s death. Maddie and Nicki think that a new renovation project is just what she needs. Actually, they all need a new project since they’ve once again fallen victims to a Ponzi scheme (which I cannot believe). T hey decide to fix up a historical hotel and film the renovation as their own independent television show. Their past experiences have made them distrustful of network executive. Maddie’s romance with an aging rock star attracts media attention and makes filming complicated. And Nikki is having trouble committing to the man that she loves. Oh ladies, it seems as though the more things change, the more they stay the same. I see cocktails in their future!  Especially since their project leads to the discovery of an unsolved decades-old murder case.

A Low Country Wedding by Mary Alice MonroeA Low Country Wedding by Mary Alice Monroe- May 3, 2016. This book is the last in a series about the fictional Muir family. Set on Sullivan Island, off the coast of Charleston, SC, the Muir family has all gathered to celebrate the weddings of sisters, Harper and Carson. Their weddings are planned one day apart, which seems like a crazy idea to me. Grandmother Dora is insisting on an Emily Post-style wedding, even though one of the sisters wants something more modern. Family drama and weddings are fertile ground for trouble. After the minister arrives with a deep dark family secret, tensions explode. Suddenly no one’s sure if anyone’s going to get married!

Her fiancé is a local celebrity sommelier, making them the golden couple of the Chicago culinary industry. After Sophie’s fiancé elopes with someone else, her life begins to fall apart. Her heartbreak is front-page fodder for Chicago newspapers and she ends up losing her job. And then her home. Sophie has to move in with her grandmother and gets a job at a small “hometown” bakery. Just when she thinks her life can’t get any worse, wedding customers from the bakery start asking for advice that goes beyond the perfect cake. Before she knows it, Sophie becomes an on-line wedding planner. Perhaps not the best career for a jilted bride…

The Goodbye Year by Kiara RoudaThe Goodbye Year by Kiara Rouda – May 3, 2016. The novel is about three sets of parents who are approaching the high school graduation of their youngest child. Each parent begins to experience anxiety and sadness as they face “the empty nest”. Melanie has been living life vicariously through her slacker son. Sarah has relied on her daughter to the extent she doesn’t know what she’ll do without her companionship. Will doesn’t know what will happen to his marriage without a child in the house. I’m very curious about this book – I’m so tired from running my children around all the time that an empty nest sounds pretty good.

The Weekenders by Mary Kay AndrewsThe Weekenders by Mary Kay Andrews – May 17, 2016. Ms. Andrews in the queen of the beach read.
