Kim Kardashian to File for Divorce

Who saw this one coming? Oh, right––the majority of America! After Kim Kardashian received her 20.5 carat ring from NBA player Kris Humphries, the reality star and fiancée embarked on their engagement journey––all filmed courtesy of the E! network. When preparations for the wedding began, one could easily tell this couple was just not meant to be. The constant fights, Kim’s prissy attitude compared to the laid-back one Kris showed, the family’s angst against their new addition––who really thought this was going to last? Even the days right before the wedding seemed to be a joke. What I wondered––was it for real, or just a show for the cameras? Now the bigger question––was the whole wedding a joke?

Just 72 days after saying “I do” in a lavish ceremony in Montecito, California in front of 440 guests, Kim Kardashian is filing for divorce. Ryan Seacrest tweeted early today, “Yes @kimkardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few minutes.” TMZ is reporting that Kardashian, 31, will not seek an annulment and plans to cite “irreconcilable differences in her filing.”

If you can’t tell, I’m just grossed out by this whole thing. The preparations that went into it, the time, effort, and money that went into making “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding” are all for a naught. Some “sources” are claiming that Kardashian knew before the wedding that she had made a mistake, but got “caught up” in the wedding planning and the fairytale aspect. How selfish. Usually, I am not this opinionated over celebrities, but this just really rubbed me the wrong way. And for how many viewers and followers Kim and the whole Kardashian family has––how does that look? To me, the message is no matter how much is costs or who it will affect, make sure you have your way. When it doesn’t work, marriage isn’t a big deal––just get a divorce! What a great role model.  Then again, this is the same woman who to rose to fame off a sex tape.

Update: Kim and Kris have both released statements. Kim: “After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don’t work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.”

And Kris: “I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

Hmm…the more I read, the more I’m thinking this is just another wonderful publicity stunt via the minds of the Kardashian’s. Desperate.

How do you feel about the divorce? Did you see it coming? Do you care?  Would love to get your thoughts!

Reality TV Going Too Far?

I have been a huge fan of the E! network for many years. I love the new shows they come up with, from Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kendra, and now my newest guilty pleasure Married to Rock. I watch E! News daily and laugh along with Ryan, G, Jason, and Catt, and must watch all the E! True Hollywood Stories. But the latest reality show the network is promoting has be a little disturbed. Bridalplasty showcases 12 bride-to-be’s competing for a different plastic surgery each week as they prepare to walk down the aisle. The last one standing gets her dream wedding (paid for by the show) and the rest of her plastic surgery “wish list.”

Am I the only one completely freaked out by this idea? I think there will always be a debate over plastic surgery and why women (and men) choose to go under the knife. Many say it is to give them confidence, better their own opinions of themselves. But with a show like this, I can’t help but feel disappointed in E! for making plastic surgery seem like it is some big extravagant prize. Especially for brides. Women who are getting married are under enough pressure as it is, with all the planning, choosing the one dress, the most fabulous cake, perfect DJ, but now to tell woman that your face must be free of wrinkles, breasts that rival Pamela, and any cellulite sucked off your bod? I can’t believe woman would compete to get a complete overhaul of their body done before their big day. Didn’t their boyfriends propose to them because they loved them, body imperfections aside? Do these brides want their husbands to recognize them as they walk down the aisle?

I enjoy reality TV, including the competitions. But people are usually competing for money, vacations, a modeling contract. I don’t think I need to remind people that plastic surgery is actually dangerous, that serious complications can arise from cutting into a person’s body. And the format of the show sounds like these women could be getting several procedures done in a short amount of time, which can be even more dangerous.

I guess my bottom line is that I just hate to see reality TV coming to this. Let us follow celebrities, let us watch ordinary people turn into singing superstars, but why do we have to ask women to completely change themselves to fit into this stereotypical world?

Kardashian’s Have a ‘Hunch’ On Kourtney’s Robbery

October 22, 2009 by

kourtKris Jenner spoke on Ryan Seacrest’s morning show, On Air with Ryan Seacrest, about the robbery that occurred at her daughter Kourtney’s Calabasas, CA home on October 17th. The robbers got away with over $100,000 worth of jewelry. Jenner was quoted as saying the robbery did seem fishy, because the thieves had to know when the cameras would not be rolling for the E! reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and also had to know when the alarm system was not activated. This suggests an inside job, and Jenner, who spoke along with Khloe Kardashian, is hoping to have the case solved quickly. One piece that was stolen, a watch, happens to be of great sentimental value to the family. The watch belonged to Robert Kardashain, the girls’ late father that Jenner had passed down to their first daughter, Kourtney.
