Top 5 Bottom 5 Eyeshadow Palettes 2020

I look forward to ranking all the eyeshadow palettes I try throughout the year, starting in January. This is such a fun challenge for me to do every year, and you all seem to love it too. This type of video holds a special place in my heart, as it was the first one to go “viral” on my channel, hitting over 100K views in a pretty short period of time.

For today’s post, I will be going over the Top 5 and Bottom 5 eyeshadow palettes that I tried in 2020. For the full ranking of the 75+ palettes I tried, be sure to watch my YouTube video. In order to leave things off on a high note, let’s countdown the lowest rated eyeshadow palettes first. There were 55 slots in my ranking video, as some palettes were grouped together, so we’re starting off with number 51.

#51 ColourPop’s Tie Dye collection, with the palettes Miss Bliss, In A Trance, and Aura and Out. Pastels are just not a personal preference for me. They can be fun every once in a while, especially in Spring, but I don’t find myself reaching for them.

#52 One of the first palettes I purchased in 2020, the ColourPop Blush Crush palette. The formula in this one was underwhelming. I was not expecting that at all, as this was ColourPop’s standard 9 pan palettes, which I typically love.

#53 I was super excited about the ColourPop Candy Castle collection. Candyland is so nostalgic to me. They sent along a board game to play; it was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed with the formula and again, pastels are just not a favorite of mine. A lot of the shades in this one are that matte formula with the sparse glitter in there – not a fan.

#54 I tried two of the Fenty Snap Shadow palettes in 2020, and they’re landing in second to last place. I am hearing that they’ve now reformulated, but I haven’t tried those new ones. The mattes in these were very patchy, the shadows were hard to blend, and the shimmers were lackluster.

#55 The absolute WORST palette I tried this year was shockingly, the ColourPop x Sailor Moon collaboration. People went nuts over this collab. Naturally, I did not watch Sailor Moon as a child, so I don’t have that same connection to this collection. Some of the ColourPop collab palettes just don’t have the same quality I’ve come to expect from them. The color story with this one also just confuses me; I never reach for it.

Now, are you ready to talk about the top 5 best eyeshadow palettes I tried in 2020? There are some very exciting palettes in here!

#5 I believe I now own all of the elf Bite Sized palettes. These are fabulous, and only $3 each! Mattes are great. Shimmers are great. You just can’t go wrong.

#4 Sigma palettes impressed me so, so much in 2020. The Untamed palette was the perfect fall release; it did something to me. It’s been described as a grunge-y rainbow palette, and I love that.

#3 Did I mention I was impressed by Sigma in 2020? Sigma’s Cor de Rosa palette is coming in a little higher than the Untamed simply because I’ll be reaching for this color story a bit more often. I mentioned my love for this palette in my One + Done Eyeshadow Look video as well.

#2 I know earlier in this post, I seemed to be hating on ColourPop quite a bit, but you know I love a lot of their palettes. The runner up best palette of the year goes to ColourPop’s That’s Taupe! It’s constantly going out of stock, and for good reason. I am recommending this $14 cool toned palette, over the Natasha Denona Glam palette, which says a lot!

#1 Speaking of Natasha, in the number one spot — Natasha Denona Love! Did you guess that one? I use this palette so much! As a makeup reviewer, that can be hard sometimes, but I return to my Love palette time and time again. The purples and pinks make it so fun for me!

Ranking all these palettes was a lot of fun. To see all the 75+ palettes ranked, be sure to watch my YouTube video, linked below!
