To put a spin on my Brands I Want to Try series, I am ranking all the brands I tried for the first time last year. I absolutely love creating ranking videos! In today’s post, I will share the bottom and top 2 spots. For all 15 brands, be sure to watch the YouTube video linked below.
Bottom 2 Brands I Tried in 2021
The worst brand I tried in 2021 was Florence by Mills. This is a brand created by Millie Bobby Brown, most known for her role in Stranger Things. I tried their Like a Light Skin Tint and it really did not work out for me! It was marketed as a hydrating product, which is why it caught my attention but unfortunately it felt so dry on my skin, and really aged me. As this brand seems to be targeted towards a younger audience, I just don’t think it’s for me.
Coming in in the 14th spot is Dermablend. Prior to receiving these products in PR, I actually had never heard of the brand, but they are sold at Ulta. I tried out a ton of complexion products in 2021, and their CC Cream just wasn’t a good fit for my skin. Once again, it looked very dry and aging on my skin. The product feels very thick, full coverage and mask-like as well which was not what I was expecting, nor is it my preference.
Top 2 Brands I Tried in 2021
In second place, we have Em Cosmetics. I tried quite a few of their products last year; not all of them faves. The Daydream SPF Cushion Foundation really doesn’t do a lot for me besides that added layer of SPF coverage, which while that’s nice, it’s not something I’m reaching for. The stand out for me are the So Soft cream blush sticks! I’ve been sharing about these often; it was included in my Best of Beauty. I have the shade Venetian Rose, which is a deeper rosey mauve type of shade. They’re so easy to use, ultra blendable, can even be used to touch up over powder. They’re just incredible; I’m so impressed!
The top brand I tried in 2021 has to be Auric. Auric was launched at the beginning of the year by Samantha Ravndahl, who is someone I really admire in the industry. I can’t stop, won’t stop wearing the Smoke Reflects. I wear these shadow duos all of the time, and I think they are fantastic. I really doubted that both products from the brand, the Smoke Reflects, and the Glow Lust Radiant Luminizer, would be for me, but they really pushed my makeup preferences in a different direction.
