Emily Giffin’s novel Something Borrowed is getting closer to production! Luke Greenfield has signed on as director of the romance novel that will be coming to a theater near you. Greenfield has produced big name films such as “The Girl Next Door” and “Role Model’s” and will be joined by Wild Ocean Film’s Aaron Lubin and Pamela Schein as producers. Alcon Entertainment will produce the film (which will keep the novel’s title of Something Borrowed) and will bring along big names such as Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Molly Smith, and Hilary Swank. Jennie Urman penned the screenplay.
Maggie Marr, author of the celebrity ridden, Hollywood gossip novels Hollywood Girls Club and Secrets of the Hollywood Girls Club didn’t start out in the depths of the plush L.A. lifestyle. She grew up in Illinois, practiced law for four years- first as a guardian-ad-litem for abused children in Chicago and then as a prosecutor in domestic violence in Denver. After that, Marr moved to Los Angeles with her husband, an actor, and began her first job in the entertainment industry- pushing a mail cart at ICM. The pushing paid off, as she later became a motion picture literacy agent. Marr now splits her time between producing and writing. Her two published titles are Hollywood Girls Club and Secrets of the Hollywood Girls Club. She also finished her most recent television pilot My Mr. Universe. Maggie Marr is currently working on a contemporary romance and a new motion picture script.
Newly single Josie Flynn does not want to participate in a wedding. After finding her husband has been cheating, she unfortunately still finds herself en route from London to New York to be in her cousin’s wedding. It isn’t all bad though, after meeting Matt Jarvis on the flight. The cute aspiring rock journalist asks her out on a date, and while Josie is relieved that she can still be found attractive, she is stood up and left alone at a New York restaurant, once again crushing her self confidence. Matt Jarvis just missed meeting Josie at that restaurant, a date that he was highly looking forward to. He is determined to find her, but with little information to go on, madness and humor ensues as he tries to track down the elusive Josie. He even crashes a wedding that he thought was Josie’s cousins, as he was only going off the first name of the bride. For Better, For Worse by Carole Matthews isn’t my favorite novel by the English author. The plot starts off strong, with good descriptions of all the main players, but as the time goes on, it seems just too unbelievable. The humor can give you a good laugh every now and then, but even some of those scenarios are too silly to believe- trying to smuggle a duck with a diamond ring in its stomach through the airport- is just one example. It is still an entertaining read, though Matthews has definitely written better.
Amy Adams and fiancé Darren Legallo are expecting their first child. The couple has been together for seven years, after meeting in an acting class in 2001, and became engaged in July of 2008. Adams, 35, will next be seen in the romantic comedy, Leap Year, which hits theaters on Jan. 8.
Do you believe in curses? Tim Trehan sure does. The star player for the Philadelphia Phillies has always been haunted by following in the footsteps of his older brother- always doing the same thing he does just months later. Now, twin brother Jack suffered an injury that ended his MLB career too soon, and Tim is terrified he will be next. So when his awkward childhood friend turned gorgeous young women appears at one of his games, Tim believes he has found a way to fight the curse. Suzanna Trent has always loved Tim. When they were growing up, she would do anything for him- homework, bail him out of trouble, good ole Suze would do anything. And her love for Tim has not faded over time. After spending a few hours together (and a passionate night in bed) Tim proposes that they head off to marry in Vegas. Thinking that he must have loved her all these years just as much as she did, Suze agrees and quickly becomes Mrs. Trehan. But Suze quickly finds out that Tim only married her in hopes of warding of the curse that could possibly end his baseball career. Before she can decide how to react, they find out another common factor between him and his brother- fatherhood. Suze is pregnant. Be My Baby Tonight by Kasey Michaels is an excellent read. The entire book will keep you on your toes, wondering if this couple can possibly make things work. Does Tim really love Suze? And is Suze actually in love with Tim, or just infatuated with the school boy she once crushed on? Michael’s does a great job at making both main characters come alive, and you can’t help but wonder who was really at fault for the rushed marriage- and hope that the adults can overcome all the obstacles.
Pamela Anderson…pop singer? According to Usmagazine, that answer is yes. The blonde bombshell’s music debut is titled High and is about high fashion. Fashion designer and friend Richie Rich told the New York Post, “We are recording a pop single together. Pam says she wants to sing, but nothing too difficult, so she's just going to sing the word 'high' over and over.” The actress is also collaborating on a clothing line with Rich, A*Muse, and will walk the runway when the line shows in February for Fashion Week.
Women’s Health Magazine put out a great article busting common sleep myths. It’s not uncommon that I find myself struggling to fall asleep at night, and reading through these myths taught me a lot and gave me some good tips for falling asleep quicker. Some of my favorites were: 1. Myth: It is good to “catch-up” on sleep when you can- such as sleeping in on the weekends. --I have to admit I do this all the time. My job requires me to work Monday-Friday starting at 8, and it isn’t unusual for me to sleep in until 11 or sometimes even noon on the weekends! Busted: You want to keep a regular sleep pattern all seven days. Having a regular bedtime and waking up at the same hours will help you fall asleep at night. 2. Working out in the evening will cause you to be tired and fall asleep quickly. --Again, I am guilty of this! I try to work out everyday, but sometimes I have to squeeze in my gym time around 8 or even 9 at night. Busted: Exercising regularly will help you sleep at night. But you want to finish your workout at least 3 hours before you hit the sheets, because a cooler body will help you get to sleep faster. When you exercise, your body temperature is raised and can take some time to get back down to normal. 3. Having a drink before bed, such as a glass of wine, will make you tired. Busted: Drinking alcohol may make you tired, but it will cause you to have fragmented sleep, and you may have problems waking up throughout the night.
