Women’s Health Magazine put out a great article busting common sleep myths. It’s not uncommon that I find myself struggling to fall asleep at night, and reading through these myths taught me a lot and gave me some good tips for falling asleep quicker. Some of my favorites were: 1. Myth: It is good to “catch-up” on sleep when you can- such as sleeping in on the weekends. --I have to admit I do this all the time. My job requires me to work Monday-Friday starting at 8, and it isn’t unusual for me to sleep in until 11 or sometimes even noon on the weekends! Busted: You want to keep a regular sleep pattern all seven days. Having a regular bedtime and waking up at the same hours will help you fall asleep at night. 2. Working out in the evening will cause you to be tired and fall asleep quickly. --Again, I am guilty of this! I try to work out everyday, but sometimes I have to squeeze in my gym time around 8 or even 9 at night. Busted: Exercising regularly will help you sleep at night. But you want to finish your workout at least 3 hours before you hit the sheets, because a cooler body will help you get to sleep faster. When you exercise, your body temperature is raised and can take some time to get back down to normal. 3. Having a drink before bed, such as a glass of wine, will make you tired. Busted: Drinking alcohol may make you tired, but it will cause you to have fragmented sleep, and you may have problems waking up throughout the night. Tiger Woods has released another statement on his personal website amidst claims on infidelities and domestic disputes. The 33 year old golf champion had this to say, “I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone. Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect. But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions. Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult. I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.”
Nick Jonas is going it alone. The youngest of the group, Nick, 17, has announced five concert dates with his side project, Nick Jonas & The Administration. Tickets for the concerts, which will be performed in more “intimate” venues than where The Jonas Brother performed, will go on sale Saturday. Dates for the show are as followed: Dallas (Jan. 2), Nashville (Jan 4), Washington, D.C. (Jan. 6), New York City (Jan. 7) and Chicago (Jan. 17). Usmagazine reports that Jonas will be singing songs off of the group’s upcoming album Who I Am, which will come out February 2nd. This does not mean the Jonas Brothers are breaking up. Nick took to his MySpace blog and had this to say, “We've said from the beginning of our career as the Jonas Brothers that anything we do outside of the group is a side project because you can't break up brothers. My brothers are my biggest supporters, and were on the phone with me every day while I was in the studio asking how it was going, and telling me they couldn't wait to hear the record.” Nick Jonas & The Administration will make their performance debut at Wednesday's Grammy Nomination Concert, airing live at 9p.m./ET on CBS.
Nicole Richie just can’t seem to find enough to do. The former Simple Life star, 28, is already writing her second novel, debuting a clothing line and shoe line, being a mother to her two children, recovering from pneumonia- and now will be headlining a half hour sitcom to premier on ABC. Usmagazine reports that the show is in development and will center on a ‘professional woman with complicated family relationships who is struggling to figure out what role she'll take as her life and her family evolve.’ Variety reports that the pilot will loosely follow the reality star’s own life. Richie herself came up with the idea and will produce as well.
Robyn Sisman was born in Los Angeles, California, the hometown of her grandparents. But she wasn’t there for long- as a child Sisman moved around to Illinois, Geneva, Oxford, Munich, and back to England. In nine years, she attended schools featuring three different main languages- French, English, and German. At 15, her parents divorced and she returned back to America, but was always determined to attend a university in England. And she did. After graduating from Oxford, Sisman taught English in Ethiopia and traveled to Africa before looking for “proper” jobs. It was when she was working as a secretary at Oxford Press University that she met Adam Sisman, a new junior editor for history. She agreed to marry him after the third date. After moving to London with her husband, Sisman worked her way up to become Managing Director of Hutchinson (Random House) and shortly after became a mother. While Adam worked on his biography, she decided to begin drafting her own book- which later became Special Relationship. Sisman then went on to publish Perfect Strangers and Just Friends, both which were Sunday Times Top Ten bestsellers. Her published titles are: Special Relationship, Perfect Strangers, Just Friends, Weekend in Paris, Summer in the City, A Hollywood Ending, and The Perfect Couple (to be released in 2011).
