People.com is reporting that a source has said dancer Julianne Hough and country singer Chuck Wicks have decided to take a break. The source says, “This was mutual. They needed some time apart.” Hough, 21, and Wicks, 30, were first seen in public together at last year’s CMA Awards, walking the red carpet together. Wicks also appeared on last season of Dancing With the Stars, dancing with Hough. The couple had talked marriage on more than one occasion, and just after weeks of dating Hough told People Magazine they “”definitely” wanted to go to the altar someday. The two will both be at the CMA Awards tonight, with Hough as a presenter and Wicks covering the red carpet for Entertainment Tonight.
Delilah Levine has fantasies. About her plumber. Not the usual situation that opens up a chick lit novel, but with off beat characters that make up this story, readers can be assured that they will be laughing while turning the pages. Delilah’s husband, Jason, seems to be less than interested in his wife, spending more and more time at work as a corporate lawyer and picking at every little thing Del does (or doesn’t) do. Their sex life in non-existent and Delilah keeps finding herself having fantasies about the sexy plumber that keeps coming back for “odd” jobs. The story then takes a bizarre twist. Delilah is trying to get established as a soap opera writer, and after she pitches an idea to her boss, accidents keep happening to her, almost like someone is out to get her. The troubling part- the storyline she pitched was regarding a product that her husband’s company is working on. Could he have something to do with all the “accidents” happening to Delilah? And Ford, the plumber- could he really be an undercover FBI agent doubling as a plumber? Does She or Doesn’t She by Alisa Kwitney takes some crazy twists and turns throughout the story, sometimes to confusing to stay focused. With so many secrets and unknown identities, the plot can seem almost too farfetched at times, making it hard to be believable. But the heroine is such a great character with her quirks and fantasies, that she becomes lovable the whole way through. I can’t say this was my favorite book, but still an entertaining read.
Hold the awkward meeting of the parents. Madonna has told the New York Post that despite published reports, she is not meeting the mother of current boyfriend Jesus. Usmagazine reports the singer, 51, is going “strictly for fundraising and humanitarian purposes.” She will also be attending a meeting with the governor of Rio de Janeiro and sponsorship of a documentary about impoverished local children. Madonna has been linked with the 23 year old Jesus, model and aspiring DJ, since February of 2009.
The Second Assistant is truly a tale from the bottom of the Hollywood ladder. Elizabeth Miller decided to give up her comfortable job as a Washington senator’s aide to get her shot in the glamorous Hollywood elite. She joins on to The Agency, a powerful representation company, but quickly finds herself the odd one out. Her hair is not highlighted, her clothes are not designer, her car is a clunker, and readers seriously doubt that Lizzie can pull it off in LA. Her naïve sense gets her in to trouble on more than one occasion- falling for the wrong guys, getting roofied at dinner, thinking someone is a friend when they are really out to sabotage her every move- but readers will cheer for Lizzie as we watch her grow up in between the pages. Lizzie slowly gains friends and a sense of desire- she wants to produce and has an excellent opportunity land on her lap. But can she pull it off when she once again is hung out to dry by a ‘friend’ when a better opportunity comes along? Clare Naylor & Mimi Hare give readers a tantalizing peek behind the scenes of the Hollywood lifestyle and the major players (think Cameron, George and Leo) and the entertaining and outrageous scenarios that the heroine finds herself caught up in keeps the book on pace. The Second Assistant offers a fun, fast, a laugh out loud chick lit novel.
