Romy Narindra’s parents ditched the blazing heat of India in the seventies. Then why didn’t the “India” ditch them? She doesn’t have a clue, but as a self-sufficient woman in her late twenties, she would love to tell her parents where to shove their arranged marriage plans. What stops her is the threat of disownment, and a wallop of pressure from Toronto’s growing Indian community.

But what about love?

Romy knows love from a three-month stint where she kept a guy happy and somehow kept her parents in the dark. Of course he’s with someone else now while she pines away at home, but at the time it was as warm as microwaved apple pie. So when Romy’s parents stage a public weigh-in, then offer her a year to lose the flab before they put her up on MarriageMatch.com, she knows the time has come to find her one true love.

For months she goes through vodka, wingmen and tubes of sparkly lip-gloss, until at last she finds a man while they’re both busy surfing.

Internet surfing.

He’s her sandy-haired prince who lives in Barcelona, and he needs to fall in love with her fast so he can save her from her life.  What he may not fall in love with are her pressures for a secret visit, and psychotic mentions of marriage.

Either way she’d rather jump into a path of oncoming rickshaws, than surrender her future to a freak from the arranged-marriage classified ads.

So to catch a cyber guy for keeps, or to openly date and face the fury of her parents?

It’ll have to be one before the twelve months are out, in this rollercoaster “year of the chick”…

**Romi’s tour is now full. Thank you to everyone who signed up!**
