love on location I received a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review

Love on Location, by Claire Baxter, is a novella that tells the story of Shayna Drake, location scout to Australian TV shows, and her attempt to achieve her goal of becoming a location manager with her company, and ultimately Hollywood. She is currently trying to find a location for the mini-series “Caught on Camera”, having been promised that if she finds the right house she will also score the coveted managerial position. Shayna has finally been able to find the perfect house but there is only one problem–Lachlan Devlin, ex-TV star who has sworn to never, ever involve himself with anything that had to do with the media again. For a man who promised he would never fall in love again, Lachlan finds himself strangely and incredibly attracted to Shayna, causing him to make an exception. For Shayna, who is determined that she will not be sidetracked from her goals of Hollywood, she also finds herself making an exception and becoming involved with Lachlan. What starts off as a temporary and brief fling, quickly develops into more as both parties discover that “true love is rarely convenient. It strikes at the most inopportune moments.”

This story was a typical romance in which the reader knew exactly how the story would end, but that familiarity, rather than be extremely clichéd, only added to the story’s charm and enjoyment. The characters were both very real and can connect well to any reader; whether you have had those who you loved reject you, like Shayna; been betrayed in love, like Lachlan; given up on love like Lachlan; or hope that your true love is still out there waiting for you like Shayna. Baxter’s character development is extremely enjoyable as both reveal their past issues and insecurities and evolve into becoming better people because of their trust and love in each other.
