Book Review: Undeclared by Jen Frederick

undeclared“The moral of the story is I can’t go around telling people my greatest fear because someone will use it against me.”

At one point in everyone’s life we have all felt inadequate or unfocused or unclear about our life’s direction. Grace is that said fear. Grace journeys from being a Marines pen pal until he finally returns home. Only he waits 2 years later to finally meet her. She’s afraid of never meeting him. He’s afraid she won’t have feelings for him as he does. The two play a game of cat and mouse, unsure of what the other wants and Grace battles with making life decisions.

I enjoyed the multiple meanings of ‘undeclared’. Grace is undeclared in her college major. Noah is undeclared in his stakes for Grace. Grace is undeclared or undecided about her relationship with Noah.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was hard to put down because I wanted to know how it would all turn out. I found certain portions of the book to be very quick and felt I wanted more. However I did enjoy the writing style and characters.
