I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Summary:
Following in the bestselling tradition of Molly McAdams and J. Lynn, this final chapter in the fun and steamy New Adult trilogy by Noelle August (authors Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger) features two aspiring musicians who must choose between their careers…and their sizzling attraction for each other.
Playing the occasional club gig just isn’t cutting it for twenty-two-year-old cellist Skyler Canby, who’s trying to support herself and her mother back home in Kentucky. Persuaded by her best friend Beth to accompany her on an audition for the first feature film launched by Blackwood Entertainment, she figures why not? Beth’s a shoe-in for the lead, but maybe Skyler’s newly dyed pink hair will help her stand out enough to score a small speaking part.
Never in her wildest dreams does Skyler imagine she’ll land the lead role or that she’ll have her shoes knocked off her feet by the kiss her audition partner, Grey Blackwood, plants on her—a kiss that feels very real and not at all “acted. ”
After throwing a party that causes thousands of dollars of damage to his older brother’s home, reckless musician Grey Blackwood gets roped into working off his debt on the set of his CEO brother’s newest project. Grey spends his days fetching coffee and doing odd jobs around the studio, but he lives for nights when he performs with his band. He knows if he can stay focused, success as a singer is just around the corner. But that’s tough with a distracting pink-haired girl occupying his every waking thought.
Skyler and Grey have every reason to resist each other. But, like a song neither of them can get out of their minds, they have no choice but to go where the music takes them.
Review:
Hypnotic, Charming, and utterly Breathtaking! As my first New Adult Novel; I have to say, this genre is going to be fantastic fun to explore! I had to add it as a favorite genre.
I cried, I laughed, and I connected! A deep connection! I was reminded of my first loves, friendships…first roommates, meetings, dates, breakups. The tears and the joy…the confusion…the epic love. I bet you will find some parts of this story to ring true for you.
”Bounce” grabbed hold of my heart and would not let go, until the very last sentence.
Only then, I wanted to read more, so I flipped the page and it is blank!! I was so saddened. But; as they say, all good things must come to an end. Right? (Still trying to convince myself…lol)
With a truly clever writing style, “Bounce” not only delivers a wonderful story of friendship, passion, love and devotion, but the words used throughout the story are a true lyrical dance, super poetic. If you read my reviews, you know that this makes a book extra special to me. I adore quick witted writing. I love a weaver of words. I adore books that read this beautifully…Gracefully…making you truly “feel” the story. I was so enraptured with this story, because my connection to each character grew stronger with each turn of the page.
I absolutely adored each character in this book, especially the leads, Skylar and Grey. But, Grey… I fell in love with Grey, a 19 year-old musician that is trying to find his place in life. His place to call home, and where he fits in! Witnessing his emotional growth is mesmerizing. There was a point in the book, where he is talking with his Mother, and I just cried…a seriously hard, ugly cry! The type of cry that made me glad I was home alone. I had to grab a box of Kleenex, realizing, I would need them for the rest of the story. These authors were not done with me yet. They had a tight grip on me. These butterflies in my stomach were not going anywhere.
Skylar and Grey are both musicians trying to make something of themselves. After their initial meeting, it appears that will be their only interaction. Truth is, there is a lot more to tell. So much more!
Some books are meant to be read. Others are made to be felt. This is one of those books.
Romantic! Stunningly Romantic! Take the time to get lost in this book. It was such a great ride.
(Can this be a movie, please!)
5 Stars.
