#BookReview: Delicious Disasters by Isabella Louise Anderson

About the Book

When Tessa Markham’s bookstore gets bought out, she is forced to face an uncertain future. After her best friend challenges her to start baking, she accepts—even if the last time she baked wasn’t what she would call a delicious success.

After a small kitchen fire, Tessa’s life begins to change. She finds encouragement from a sexy fireman, agrees to a questionable ruse to help another business owner with a complicated situation, and needs to be there for her best friend now more than ever.

Can a delicious disaster lead to a new future and a successful baking career?

My Review

Delicious Disasters is a cute story about trying to find what makes you happy. After losing her bookstore and needing to find a new focus in life, Tessa turns toward baking after the encouragement from her best friend. Plenty of disasters occur – including a kitchen fire that sparks a connection in her love life – but I enjoyed seeing that Tessa didn’t give up on learning something new. Because I am a fellow undomestic goddess with plenty of kitchen fails under my belt, it was a little hard to fathom Tessa going from starting fires to being an amazing baker with very intricate cakes, but it was fun to imagine. There are a lot of layers to this book – from the friendship angle to Tessa’s tangled love life and more – and while sometimes the dialogue and inner thoughts didn’t come across smoothly, I was still interested in Tessa’s journey and see how the story would wrap up.
