About the Book
‘Of the four of them, only three remained. And there was no going backwards from there.’
Emily and Josephine have always shared everything. They’re sisters, flatmates, and best friends. It’s the two of them against the world.
When Emily has the perfect wedding, and Josephine finds the perfect man, they know things will change forever. But nothing can prepare them for what, or who, one of them is willing to give up for love.
Four people. Three couples. Two sisters. One unforgivable betrayal.
From the best-selling author of Missing Pieces comes a heart-wrenching story about family, loyalty, and obsession that will have you racing to the finish.
My Review
The synopsis for Nobody’s Wife sounded right up my alley. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a book I just couldn’t get into a rhythm with. I didn’t quite understand why the characters did what they did. Especially when it came to Emily, I didn’t feel like I could understand at any point what was driving her decisions – was there more to her relationship with her sister, had she done anything like this in her past? I found myself with more and more questions as I continued to read, and I also felt like the book ended fairly abruptly, and with no real resolution. The story as a whole is pretty sad and depressing, and that doesn’t let up even as we drew to a close. With the first line in the synopsis I thought this actually might be a little suspenseful, but the death is a fairly small part of the story and not really what I would have expected from reading the blurb. There was definite potential with the plot, but ultimately not a favorite read of mine.
