running with knivesSummary:

To get to happily ever after, sometimes you need to start from scratch . . .

A successful caterer, Holly is known for her birthday cakes, but lately her love life isn’t so sweet. When her daughter goes off to college, Holly Murphy realizes that somewhere along the way she’s lost touch with the spontaneous young woman she used to be. On the worst day of her life, it hits her that she once had big dreams too. If only she could remember what they were and find the girl within herself who is still brave enough to try.

A shocking secret, and a push from her daughter, propels Holly out of her kitchen—and her comfort zone—and onto a reality cooking show. But she soon learns that sometimes the life you walk away from doesn’t always let you go no matter how far you run.

As Holly tries to spice up her simmering love life, and faces one disaster after another while struggling to make sense of it all, she must figure out how to find herself again without losing everything else in the process.

From a bestselling author comes a humorous and heartwarming look at how life sometimes creates opportunities to love in surprising ways.

Review:

Oh boy, this book had everything you want in a chick lit novel and more! And because I’m such a huge fan of foodie fiction, I even got a little of that element in here, and had a blast following Holly along as she tries to become a reality TV chef-sensation. With romance, betrayals, a hot Frenchman, and a plot twist, I was eagerly flipping the pages of this must-read with enthusiasm. You know you love a book when each time you have to stop reading it feels painful to have to put your Kindle down and walk away. Highly recommend!
