the regularsSummary:

A fierce, feisty, and “wonderfully entertaining” (Scott Westerfeld, author of Uglies) debut with a magical twist about three ordinary, regular girls who suddenly have their fantasies come true…or do they?

Best friends Evie, Krista, and Willow are just trying to make it through their mid-twenties in New York. They’re regular girls, with average looks and typical quarter-life crises: making it up the corporate ladder, making sense of online dating, and making rent.

Until they come across Pretty, a magic tincture that makes them, well…gorgeous. Like, supermodel gorgeous. And it’s certainly not their fault if the sudden gift of beauty causes unexpected doors to open for them.

But there’s a dark side to Pretty, too, and as the gloss fades for these modern-day Cinderellas, there’s just one question left:

What would you sacrifice to be Pretty?

Review:

Oh my my my. I do love a book with a bit of a …magical realism …twist and The Regulars gives us just that and so much more. What an intriguing story we have here. Three friends, all average, all trying to make something happen with their lives, are given the opportunity to be pretty. But not just pretty. Beautiful. Gorgeous. Stunning. And when they take a drop of “the pretty” they get to experience what the not-so-average girl gets – attention. Opportunity. And so much more.

I really don’t want to give too much away in this review, but of course, nothing can come without some sort of sacrifice. And the journey these three friends take … is wild. This is a book that will make you think and make you talk to others. I had to ask my friends what they would do in that situation. Would you take the pretty? Do you think it would be worth it? I will say this book features a lot of sex so if that isn’t your thing this isn’t for you. But it didn’t bother me and I stayed hooked all the way through. Loved the concept, and the execution. Saucy summer read.
