My Review

The Surrogate was a twisty psychological thriller that pulls us from past to present, leaving readers with more and more questions as the story continues. There was definitely plenty of suspense in here and the ending actually did take me surprise with the big revelation, but I didn’t totally love this book. I think the constant foreshadowing and the way every chapter or section break ended on an ominous note was a little overkill, and it was a little odd that everyone in the book seemed to be hiding a huge secret. It didn’t feel as realistic as I would have hoped, but perhaps that was the writer’s intent with Kat not being a full reliable narrator. I still read the entire novel and thought it was decent, but not a favorite of mine.
