#BookReview: Welcome To Singlehood by Jessamine Pearl

welcome to singlehoodAllison Harper is waiting patiently for her boyfriend to finally propose – like eight years of being together kind of patient. Instead, she finds herself single at thirty-five, and clearly out of touch with the dating game. The last time she was setting up dates was via a flip phone, and now it’s all digital dating and Netflix and chill. Her hopefulness of a marriage on the horizon gets smaller and smaller with each drunken bar night, unsuccessful date, and  string of going-nowhere dudes.

Welcome To Singlehood by Jessamine Pearl  has an eye-catching cover and great blurb, and I knew it was going to be something I wanted to read. The beginning definitely caught my attention, with the messy breakup and Allison trying to find herself once again after being a part of a couple for so many years. There was plenty of laugh out loud scenes, heart-warming moments, times I was frustrated with Allison’s luck, and I thought the writing was great. Allison was extremely relatable and a likeable heroine, and I was really hoping for her to get a happy ending. There was quite a twist in here that I didn’t see coming and really divides this book into three main sections. Again, because Allison felt like my friend I wanted to read all about her life and how her journey played out, but my only complaint is that it got a little long at times. There is a lot that happens in here and perhaps certain parts could have been trimmed down to keep the book at a fast pace, but I still wanted to read it cover to cover and see how it all worked out in the end. For fans of chick lit, this is a fun one.
