Beauty Review: Pur Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation

I recently finished up my Bare Minerals face powder, and set off to the makeup store (my trusty Ulta) on the hunt. I started a chat with a salesgirl and explained my needs for a new powder. She led me to Pur Minerals, a brand I had not yet heard of. I took a look at the 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup Foundation, and decided to give it a chance. I really have the salesgirl to thank- as she was pretty convincing- and I’m glad. I love this stuff! The foundation is lightweight, makes my skin look instantly better, and even has a SPF-15, which I really try to look for in my face makeup. I also did a shade darker so it gives me a little color when I’m pale in the winter – no tanning beds here! The coverage stays on all day, and I never have to worry about sticking it in my bag when I go out at night. I found a winner!

Beauty Review: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

It was the lovely Sara Palacios that first turned my eye on BB Cream, something I actually had not heard of yet at the time. While on a makeup run, I saw Maybelline was having a buy one/get one half off sale, so I grabbed my trusty eyeliner pencil and then saw this nice looking BB Cream next to it. I thought why not – and have not looked back since! This has become a new staple in my makeup bag. Maybelline is one of my favorite cosmetic carries, from their lip gloss to mascara, so I was more than willing to give a new product a try on their line. The BB cream is an “8-in-1 skin perfector” including evening your skin tone, brightening your skin, and hiding imperfections. It did all that for me and I instantly noticed a difference once I applied it. I also like that it is super light weight. I have another moisturizer/cream that feels heavy and I have all but thrown that one away after buying this. I also bought a shade darker so I use it as a bit of a self-tanner as well and I love the results. A new favorite!

Beauty Review: Moroccan Oil

After having my first baby in May, my hair has definitely gone through quite a transformation. The days of lush and full locks are long gone and now I have frail and thin hair. I know I know, all of these things are typical after pregnancy, but I still wasn’t prepared and I had the HARDEST time when my hair started to fall out. And boy, did it ever. When I couldn’t take it any longer, I went online and looked up products and read countless reviews. I tried a few products here and there but nothing really seemed to help. That is, until I had a friend recommend Moroccan Oil and I gave it a whirl. This stuff literally changed my life. I feel like it restored the shine and softness and helped strengthen every strand. A miracle worker to the fullest, I highly recommend this product. Now, be careful though because you only need a tiny drop or else you will look like you haven’t showered in days. Other than that, it will heal your hair and restore life back into your roots. I will continue to use this product every day.

Beauty Review: Clean and Clear Morning Burst

Since I’m one to always need a burst in the morning, when I was on the hunt recently for new face products I had to try Clean and Clear Morning Burst. A special that was going on prompted me to buy the cleanser and get the facial scrub for half off – excellent! I’m happy to report that I enjoy both products. They both have caffeine, lemon and papaya , smell great, and seem to work for me. The cleanser is obviously softer on my skin than the scrub, but both make my skin feel soft and clean after use. I also bought the skin brightening line, and I have to say that I truly believe they do that. I’m very impressed with both these products, and know I will definitely purchase the cleanser again, if not the facial scrub as well. I will buy more from the Clean and Clear line!

Beauty Product Review: Jergens Natural Glow

As someone who stopped using tanning beds years ago, I often see quite a pale face staring back at me in the mirror. I have no problem getting spray tans, but those can pricey and let’s be serious – cold! A girlfriend started using Jergens Natural Glow lotion, and I could really see a difference. I bought a bottle for myself, and was able to cut down on the amount of spray tans I was getting. I had one issue though – my body looked nice and bronzed, my face was still ghost white. I purchased the lotion that is specifically for the face as well, and I love it! I don’t use it every day, but when I think I need a little boost or know I have weekend plans, I’ll use it in the morning during that week and have a nice glow! I have great results with both the body lotion and the face lotion, though I will recommend to wash your hands good after use, or else you’ll start to see coloration on your palms! Also, the face lotion can come out a little thick, so small amounts work best or else it almost feels like a mask.

Beauty Review: Bed Head Control Freak Serum

Yes, yes, frizzy hair, blah, blah, blah. I feel like when I start each beauty review that has to do with hair I state that I am a frizz-ball. A new product I have tried recently is from the Bed Head line. A girlfriend uses many of these products and swears by them, so I thought I’d give it a whirl. I picked up the Control Freak serum. My first thought – this is a fairly inexpensive bottle when you realize how much product you are getting. I have been using this a few times a week for about two months now, and it looks like I’ve barely put a dent in it. My second thought – I really like this serum. It works best for me straight out of the shower and before I blow dry. The frizz is decreased and my hair is shiny, which is clearly fab. I’ve tried this before on dry hair (as instructions say can use on wet or dry hair) and the result is not as fab. It mostly just feels like glop in my hair and does not look good at all. This is one I would recommend for wet hair – and I like the smell too!

Beauty Review: Suave Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditoner

Yes, yes, I have frizzy hair. You guys hear me moan and complain and buy products for it all the time. Well, I have a new product to review today, and it’s from Suave! I thought since my man Clay Matthews uses it, I might as well give it a whirl. (Well, just the regular Suave – and the For Men stuff, but you get my drift.) So I purchased a bottle of their Keratin Infusion Smoothing Conditioner. I have heard a lot of about Keratin treatments at salons, but they are pricey and the bottle of this conditioner was only $5, so I decided to start small. My results? I do enjoy this product. When I first used it, I got out of the shower, sprayed detangler through my hair, then a daily treatment I add after showers, then a straightening agent. My hair felt incredibly weighted down and just gross. The second time I used it I put on only the detangler after getting out of the shower. Much better! My hair felt light, and after I blow-dried and straightened, my hair was almost totally frizz-free and looked shiny and healthy. I was very impressed! I will say that the conditioner doesn’t smell the best, definitely more chemical-y than yummy, but I think it works! I usually only use it once a week (towards the weekends) because I also noticed when I use it multiple times in a row my hair can get that limp, weighted down feeling.

Beauty Review: CoverGirl 24 Hour Lash Blast Mascara

Mascara Junkie is back! The latest mascara I gave a try was Covergirl’s 24-Hour LashBlast. It promises three things: volume lasting up to 24 hours, anti-smudging, and bold, intense volume. Does it last 24 hours? Honestly, mine does. When I know I am just going out for a few hours here and there, I won’t wear this mascara, because I find it pointless. I use it on the days where I know I’ll be out and about and not able to retouch up my makeup, so that is a definite plus. It is a bit hard to get off at night, but worth it for me when it actually stays on and (point two) doesn’t smudge or start to crease with my other eye makeup. Can we make it three for three? Actually, yeah. It does give me lashes volume – no length, but that is not what is promised here. I don’t think it will be a favorite mascara of mine mainly because I look for a lengthener too, but this product does what it says it will do, and for that, I am a happy customer.
