Karoline Barrett is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and The Art of Being Rebekkah
Summary:
When Rebekkah Gelles suspects her husband, Avram of not only lying to her, but also contriving not to have the children she so desperately wants and embezzling money from his business, she wants out of their marriage.
Her life gets complicated when she falls in love with detective Nick Rossi. Convinced Nick’s wrong for her—he’s not Jewish for one thing—she walks away after they share a night of passion. Nick warns her even though he loves her, he won’t beg. Their budding relationship seems to have ended.
When Rebekkah finds herself staring at a positive pregnancy test, she wavers between joy and sadness. Motherhood wasn’t supposed to happen this way.
Review:
This book really has a lot going on, and I also learned a lot while reading, especially about the Jewish culture. I’m always a fan of learning and taking something away from books, and I found myself talking to my husband and friends about what I was reading and about some of the Jewish traditions and cultures. One thing I did find a little distracting was that the book really seems like two separate stories. One is the storyline with Avram and going through a tough marriage, the other half is all about Rebekkah’s relationship with Nick. I almost think the parts with Avram could have been condensed, because I enjoyed reading more about her life with Nick and getting her career going. I still found this to be a really interesting read, and it was fast-paced and quite suspenseful at times too.
