Sara Palacios is on tour now with CLP Blog Tours and Love in Translation. I was excited to read this novel because Sara is someone I consider a friend, who also happens to be an associate reviewer for CLP and basically my right-hand woman. I know how hard she has been working on this novel and how excited she was to have it published. But before I get all sappy, let’s just dive in! Our MC is Emily, who is suffering from a breakup. Around the same time she tries to pick up the pieces and make changes to better herself, she gets a new neighbor – a very sexy, Spanish chef to be precise. When Emily thinks she might finally be ready to accept love, her long-time friend Steven confesses his love for her. Suddenly, Emily is unsure about all the decisions regarding love and friendship she must make.
What a cute story! I loved the opening scene of the book; it immediately drew me to Emily and made her my friend. There is a lot about relationships and finding true love and happiness in this book, and it was nice to take time to reflect along with the characters. There are a lot of sub-plots that keep the story fast-paced, and especially enjoyed the interaction between Emily and her mom, who don’t have the best relationship. I think this is one for your shelf – and who doesn’t love the cover?
