Katherine Owen is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and When I See You. I knew I would have an immediate connection to this book because the story is based around Jordan Holloway, wife to a Navy Seal. My older sister is an Army wife, and her husband has been through multiple deployments since entering the service over ten years ago. Jordan has dealt with her husband of four years leaving time and again to Afghanistan, and wants this to be Ethan’s last tour. They have a young son together, Max, and Jordan is tired of having to count the days he is apart from their family. She makes Ethan’s sniper partner Brock Wainwright promise something he cannot fully commit on, but tries believes in him and the promise. Brock embraces the wild and dangerous life being a Seal permits him to have, but he cares deeply for his best friend and partner Ethan – and now his wife and the promise he has made her. But can such a promise be kept in such a dangerous place as the battlefield? These two are about to find out.
When I See You is so well-written and so intense that it is hard to put down. I finished reading this about two days ago as I’m writing the review and Jordan’s story and her journey are still haunting me. This book has so many elements to it that I found it impossible not to be sucked into the drama and the reality of life. I’m finding trouble writing this review because I don’t like to give a lot away in my feedbacks, but I will warn readers to grab tissues and be ready for an emotional rollercoaster while reading. There were parts in this book that made me go pale, spread goosebumps along my body, and sob like a baby. The only flaw that stuck out to me was the overuse of the word wan and wanly. I think over half of them should have been cut out. Regardless of that little issue, this is really an amazing read and one I think you need to pick up!
