GIVEAWAY: Confessions of a Call Center Gal by Lisa Lim

Madison Lee is a fresh college grad, ready to take on the world of print media. But she has zero luck landing a job. Unemployment is at ten percent and on the rise. Desperate and left with no other options, she accepts a position as a service rep at a call center in Pocatello, Idaho. At the Lightning Speed call center in Spudsville, Maddy plunges into the wild and dysfunctional world of customer service where Sales is prided over Service and an eight hour shift is equivalent to eight hours of callers bashing her over the phone. Oh sure, the calls are bad. But Maddy manages to find humor on the phone and off the phone. And with all the salacious drama behind the calls, there is never a dull moment at the Lightning Speed call center.

Lately . . . Maddy has been pining for her smolderingly gorgeous co-worker Mika Harket. Now things are heating up on the phone–and elsewhere. Don’t hang up on this novel. Working at a call center has never been this garish . . . or this delightful.

I have two copies of Confessions of a Call Center Gal by Lisa Lim for giveaway- one paperback and one eCopy. I want to win this book (either print or Ebook) because in a few months I could end up being a grad school graduate facing unemployment. This sounds like a fun spin on it.

I’d like to read this because I’ve spent time working in a call center, and it’s often hard to see the humor while you’re actually working there!

I’d be grateful for either paperback or ebook.

I spent one summer working in a call center for a manufacturer of plastic wrap and bags. Received some VERY interesting phone calls, including one asking if the product could be used in lieu of a condom! Needless to say, that was NOT a recommended use of the product…..

    Paperback please

I would love to win this book. I worked many years in a call center and could totally relate to this. You have to find humor in that kind of job otherwise you would go insane! Plus I used to live in Idaho and I actually know where Pocatello is and I’ve been there šŸ™‚ It is a beautiful state!

I was in the world of marketing for 25 years and always said I would starve to death before I would work in a call center. I’m interested to read about how things really are in such a setting. Plus I am always a sucker for a paperback love story.

  27. June 25, 2011 / 5:08 am

I recently divorced and had to take on a 2nd part time job (in a call center!!) to make ends meet. Would love to read a lighthearted view of my new life!! šŸ™‚

I would love to read this book (paperback please). I’ve been there, coming out of university thinking an amazing job will fall in your lap, but spending months looks for something good and then settling for something way less than good. I always look for a fun book, especially something I can relate too and this sounds like it. Thanks for the opportunity to enter this contest.

I’m trying to imagine a call center in Pocatello – almost my neck of the woods – about 4hrs away. It sounds like a fun read based on a very familiar-for-many story of recession woes and relocation. E-copy please.
