Self Care Ideas

One of my top goals for 2022 is to incorporate self care more often. A couple times a week, I like to really make myself a priority. I have enjoyed having the opportunity to share more lifestyle content with you; more than just beauty. Thank you to Sigma Beauty for sponsoring the video related to this post. In the YouTube video linked below, you will find all 25+ of my tips.

To start my self care nights off right, I love to order in or cook my favorite meal. I try eat more balanced and healthy the majority of the time, but these nights are reserved for whatever will feed my soul that day.

After my delicious meal, it’s time for skincare. On these nights, I go all in with an elevated skin care routine. I’ve been testing out this Versed Doctor’s Visit Instant Resurfacing Mask and have really been enjoying it. I’ve been using it once a week, and it is for aging skin and dullness. Immediately after using this my skin feels very soft and looks brighter and healthier. I love applying this with the Sigma S01 Clay/Mud Mask brush. You can use my code SAMANTHA to save on the Sigma Beauty website.

Self care doesn’t always have to be big, grand gestures for yourself, or that you need to take a full day to dedicate to it. Don’t forget about the little things that can make a difference in your day. Treat yourself to a Starbucks coffee a couple times a week, if that makes you feel good. Another great way to show yourself love, is ensuring you are drinking enough water. An easy way to achieve that is to get a water bottle with the times of day running down the side, like this one. They’re cute, and also hold you accountable.

I was super excited for Sigma’s Lip Mask launch. For months, I have been raving about their previous lip launch; the Lip Oils. Those even made it into my Best of Beauty 2021. While I tend to use these lip masks in my nighttime skin care routine, I have also worn them through the day with a lip liner underneath when my lip really need the extra attention. My favorite shade in this line is Tint. These lip masks contain hyaluronic acid, vitamin E, jojoba oil, and shea butter. These incredible ingredients have helped to heal my chapped, cracked lips. The Sigma lip masks retail for $22 and come with a little spatula, so you don’t get the product under your nails!

After my evening skin care routine is complete, Aries and I head into the bedroom to continue to unwind. At this time I like to pull out my Healthy Habits Planner to reflect on my goals; see if I’m staying on the right track. I will also write in my gratitude journal. I take the time to feel thankful for all the things in my life, even if they are small. Some examples are Aries, friendships, my life in Vegas, sports, feeling safe, sleeping in. I make sure to do this every single night; to feel appreciative of my day, and be in a positive mindset. It takes a lot of effort, especially in the beginning, to change how our brains are wired to see the negatives. A gratitude journal has helped me have a more positive outlook, and I’m overall happier because of it.

I have been trying to step away from my phone more and more. A big step that has helped, is charging it in another room. One barrier of doing that for me, was needing my alarm in the mornings. While I could use it as a way to force myself up; needing to walk to the other room to turn the alarm off, the Hatch Restore has made my mornings so much nicer! I am now longer abruptly woken up by a blaring alarm, but instead the Hatch slowly turns on a soft light to wake me, ending with soothing nature sounds at the time I’d like to be up.
