CLP Blog Tours Book Review: The Brim Reaper by Diane …

Diane Vallere is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and The Brim Reaper
Summary:
When an over-the-top collection of vintage Hollywood costumes comes to Samantha Kidd’s hometown, it brings a hat box full of hype. Close friend Eddie is in charge of the exhibit but when hype turns to homicide, he turns to Samantha for help. Brimming with good intentions, she loops in the cops, but after one too many cloche calls, she’s soon in over her head. If she can tear the lid off the investigation, it might mean a feather in her fedora. And if she can’t? She might get capped.
Review:
I have also read Buyer, Beware and Designer Dirty Laundry in this series, so of course I was excited to head back into Samantha’s fashionable – and murderous – world. This series is such a blast, and the third book was just as fun to read. Of course she gets herself wrapped up in another murder mystery, and I loved that I was surprised at the ending and the whodunit. I honestly didn’t see that coming! Samantha’s romantic life is also one that I can’t wait to keep reading about, and I really hope there is more coming. I highly recommend this series!

Review:
This is quite a story! Even after reading the synopsis, I was still a bit caught off guard by how intense this book got. Not to say I disliked it, the plot twist was just unexpected to me. The beginning started off just a tad slow for me, but once the action started picking it up the book got exciting and I was having a lot of fun reading it. There is romance and suspense, and I loved the cliff hanger…well, loved in the sense that I know a book 2 is coming and I’m looking forward to reading it!

Book Review: How To Get a (Love) Life by Rosie …

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Summary:

Some people book last-minute holidays, walk barefoot in the grass or party on a week night. Not Nicola Brown. Nicola is the kind of girl who double-locks the front door, leaves the plastic covering on new furniture, sticks to a super-strict diet and definitely, absolutely Does Not Date.

Her colleague Caroline – loopy, warm and exasperated by her, knows that Nicola’s reluctance to lose control means she’s living only half a life. And so she lays down the gauntlet: Nicola must cast aside her hang ups and go on as many dates as it takes to find true love in time for Valentine’s Day.

The pick of local men is, quite frankly, a bit rubbish. And there are only three months until February 14th. Surely it’s an impossible task? But, as Nicola is about to find out on her dodgy dates, letting go isn’t quite as scary as she imagined. In fact, it’s rather a lot of fun…

Review:

This is an entertaining chick lit book, light-hearted and quite funny all the way through. What I liked most about the book was that it wasn’t totally obvious who Nicola was going to end up with from the beginning. It took me a while to see the connection, but when I did I loved it! Some of the dates she goes on in hopes to find true love are quite comical, and the supporting cast – Caroline in particular – help give another dosage of humor to the book. Chick lit fans will appreciate this one!
