CLP Blog Tours Book Review: Open My Eyes by Jennifer …

Jennifer Collin is on tour now with CLP Blog Tours and Open My Eyes
Summary:
Everything happens for a reason, they say. And sometimes the reason is you’re stupid and make bad decisions. Sleeping with her sister’s best friend is one of the dumbest things soon-to-be divorcee Emily Evans has ever done. But she’s determined to put it behind her and move on. She’s walked away from her cheating husband, managed to make a new friend, and found herself a real job and somewhere to live so she doesn’t have to couch-surf any more. Everything should be falling into place but for one problem – there are some mistakes from which you can’t move on.

Meanwhile, Ben Cameron is getting on with his life. After all, it’s the only thing to do once your heart has been stomped on by the woman of your dreams. Expanding his business and getting cosy with the girl next door are proving welcome distractions. He’s even happy to babysit his nephew, as long as he can to hand him back when he’s done! And thankfully, Emily Evans, the woman with the heavy boots, is avoiding him like the plague.

But Emily can’t avoid him forever, and when she drops a bombshell that turns Ben’s world upside-down, suddenly, getting on with his life takes on a whole new meaning.
Review:
While I haven’t read the first book in the series, I was still able to jump right in and highly enjoy Open My Eyes. There were times that I could definitely tell I was missing something from the previous book, but it wasn’t enough to hinder my reading experience. Emily is a sweet character that I was rooting for, even though there was a few times the moseying about got to me. The relationship between her and Ben had me grinding my teeth a few times, but all romances can be cut and dry, or else we wouldn’t have such fun books to read, right? The ending was very tense and quite dramatic actually, and I’ll be looking for the third to see how everything comes to a head!

one secret that changes everything.

Erin and Laura are cousins and best friends who share a love of languages and travel.

Erin, a French teacher in Dublin, reaches crisis point and drops everything to move to Australia. In Sydney, not only does she land the perfect job, but she meets the perfect man. Finally, her life is falling into place. Except Sydney isn’t home, and never can be.

Back in Ireland, Laura is struggling. Her husband appears distant, her work life is spinning out of control and her daughter’s strange new nanny is undermining her at every turn. She longs to travel in Erin’s footsteps, to drop everything and run far away. But these are dangerous thoughts for a mother and wife.

As Erin and Laura desperately try to find their place in the world, a shocking family secret comes to light, and nothing will ever be the same again.
Review:
Ber Carroll is a new author to me, and I love finding new authors to follow! Worlds Apart gives readers a complex story into one family, and I love how the past kept getting twisted into the present plot. The beginning started a little slow for me, but it was easy to get drawn in, especially when tensions start to run high. I’ll be on the lookout for more Ber Carroll books!

Author Bio:

Ber Carroll was born in Blarney, County Cork, and moved to Australia in 1995. Her first novel, Executive Affair, was inspired by her initial impressions of Sydney, and her exciting, dynamic work environment at the time. Ber now lives in Sydney’s northern beaches with her husband and two children. Worlds Apart is her sixth novel. Incidentally, Ber is short for Bernadette, but please don’t call her Bernadette: this is what her mother calls her when she is in trouble for something.

Ber’s novels have been published in five countries, including Ireland. If you would like to know more about Ber and her novels, you can visit her website at www.bercarroll.com, or you can subscribe to her newsletter (Book Chat) with fellow authors Dianne Blacklock and Liane Moriarty (see Ber’s website for a link to the newsletter and to find Ber on Facebook).

Worlds Apart is available in hard copy or e-book. It can be purchased on Amazon, Book Depository,Booktopia, Apple iTunes, Barnes and Noble, Kobo and many other online sites.

CLP Blog Tours Book Review: The Right Design by Isabella …

Isabella Louise Anderson is on tour now with CLP Blog Tours and The Right Design
Summary:
Interior designer Carrie Newman could not have envisioned a more perfect life for herself. She had a great job doing what she loved, wonderful friends, and a close relationship with her sister and brother-in-law. Add in an amazing man who she’d hoped would soon become her husband, and her life was perfect. Until one devastating decision ruins her relationship and changes the course of her life.

Determined to make a new start, Carrie leaves Texas and heads to Palm Beach to pick up the pieces of her shattered and broken life. The last thing she expects is to find herself attracted to her first client at her new job—Brad Larson, who has proven himself time and time again to be caddish.

But there’s something beneath the surface of Brad’s arrogant exterior that keeps her craving more of him—something almost sweet that Carrie can’t seem to resist.

Is Carrie ready to take another chance on romance? And will this new design of her life prove to be the right one…?
Review:
This cover (beautifully created I will point out) screams “read me this summer!” A wonderful combination of light-heartedness but with several poignant moments, The Right Design delivers something for everyone. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Carrie as she gets her heart broken and decides to take a leap of faith and start new. It’s hard also not to admire her, because how courageous is that? From debut author Isabella Louise Anderson, chick lit readers will be sure to want more after reading this!

Book Review: The Curvy Girls Club by Michele Gorman

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Summary:
A funny, heart-warming story about overcoming the prejudices we hold, no matter where we tip the scales.

When the pounds start falling off Katie, founder and president of London’s most popular social club for the calorie-challenged, it seems like a dream come true. But as the overweight stigma recedes and her life starts to change, she faces losing more than the inches around her waist. Everything that’s important to her – her closest friends, boyfriend, and acceptance into the club itself – are at stake in a world where thin is the new fat.
Review:
I don’t think I have missed a Michele Gorman book yet, and her latest delivers another round of light-hearted humor yet centers around a sensitive subject. Even though the novel is focused on the Curvy Girls Club that Katie starts and her friendship with her curvy friends, I loved the sub-plots as well. The romance plot-line was interesting and Katie’s job and health issues kept me engaged as well. A chick lit novel that is sure to be thought-provoking, I would recommend this and Michele Gorman in general for your reading lists!
