Blog Tour Sign Up: Chronicle of the Mound Builders by …

Archaeologist Dr. Angela Hunter discovers an ancient codex at a Mississippian Indian dig site in the St. Louis area. Knowing the Mississippians, or Mound Builders, had no written language, she is determined to solve the mystery of the 700-year-old, perfectly preserved codex.

In the early 1300’s, an Aztec family is torn apart. A judge rebelling against the Aztec tradition of human sacrifice is cursed and escapes his enemies with his 12-year-old son. They travel from the Gulf of Mexico up the Mississippi River to settle in the thriving community of Migaduha, modern-day Cahokia Mounds, Illinois.

Angela recognizes the symbols as Aztec pictograms and begins to translate the story. However, other forces also want the codex and will do anything to get it. Can she learn the secrets of the chronicle before the tragic events of the past are repeated today?

On Tour: Work For Hire by Margo Karasek

Tekla’s law school career couldn’t be any better. She has top grades. She’s on Law Review. She’s a frontrunner in a mock oral argument with a sweet prize: a judicial clerkship. One problem, though: Tekla has no more money to pay for school. She needs a part-time job. Fast. Luckily, her roommate has just the solution: help two uber-wealthy prep school teens, the twin son and daughter of a billionaire Wall Street short-seller and a world-renowned model turned fashion photographer, with their schoolwork, and earn $150 an hour. Plus, enjoy an additional perk on the job, in the form of a gorgeous photo assistant who happens to have his eye on Tekla. Easy money. Well, not so much. Within days, Tekla’s job begins to unravel. In a world of super-wealth and high fashion, Tekla finds herself surrounded by a peculiar cast of players: two teens whose self-destructive behavior becomes ever more erratic, a father whose ambitions for his son constantly test Tekla’s notions of what is fair and ethical and what is cheating, a mother whose emotional negligence borders on abuse, and a gorgeous man who may or may not be what he appears. As Tekla struggles to hold onto a job that takes more time and energy than she ever anticipated, her own school life begins to suffer. She makes an enemy of a professor who seems to want nothing more than to bring her down. And he’s succeeding. Soon Tekla’s life is a paradox: without her high paying part-time job, she can’t afford law school; but with it, she’ll surely flunk out of school.

CLP Blog Tours Book Review: Confessions of an Alli Cat …

Courtney Cole is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and Confessions of an Alli Cat. OMG – this is one funny book. And a bit on the dirty side, but still super hilarious. The MC is thirty-five year-old Allison “Alli” Lancaster, who is living a great life. She has money, a fab job, a terrific daughter, a great bestie and a killer house in Las Vegas. Alli is happily single after divorcing her cheating ex-husband, but her best friend Sara thinks it’s time to spice up her life. What does that entail? A sex toy, a bikini wax and – hiring a much younger gigolo to satisfy her like she’s never been satisfied before. Alli is enjoying her new life until a man that could be something serious comes along – and a whole new can of worms is opened.
This book is a must-read and one of my favorites so far this year! Fast-paced, witty, a bit raunchy and oh so scandalous! I loved being surprised by the twists that Cole sprinkled in, and I found myself telling all my girlfriends about this book and how they must get their own copy. This is definitely an R-rated read but so worth it in my opinion!

CLP Blog Tours Book Review: Bring Me Back by Karen …

Karen Booth is now on tour with CLP Blog Tours and Bring Me Back. Claire Abby is a music critic and single mom, who gets not only a killer assignment but the chance to meet a British rock legend and the man of her teenage fantasy in one fell swoop. Claire meets Christopher Penman and her world changes. While he makes her work to get him to open up, eventually Claire gets enough to write a killer story for Rolling Stone – and seems to capture Chris’s attention as well. Once she returns home to North Carolina a long-distance relationship starts between the two. But could their relationship ever work? Claire lives a normal life raising her seventeen year old daughter and striving to improve her writing career, and Chris is followed by paparazzi and working on a new album. But now that Claire has had Chris in her life, can she really pretend she hasn’t?
I had a lot of fun reading this book. Claire was very easy for me to relate to even though she is forty and I am twenty-five, and I often actually thought she was even younger! She was down to earth, a great mom, and someone just trying to stay afloat in the game of life. The chemistry between her and Chris heated up the pages, and I was really fascinated by their relationship and how people with two very different lives could possibly make it work. Sometimes the book stretched a bit long for me, but I still recommend this book, especially if you are a music fan!
