Guest Post from Kristen Wolf

I’ve always envisioned THE WAY as taking place in multiple time periods. In fact, when I first started writing the book, I alternated the story of Anna/Jesus in ancient Palestine with a modern-day story involving a female archeologist.

By the time I was about halfway through, both stories began to take on such lives of their own that each really demanded their own time—their own book. So, rather than conjoining the stories, I divided them, with the intention of writing the more modern-day story as the second book in the trilogy. In that book, we would learn a lot more about the history and life-cycle of The Way and its supporters.

In the third book, I intend to bring the practice of The Way from the modern day and into the future. By doing so, I hope to offer an alternative vision not only of spirituality, but also of the future shape and nature of our world.

Really, the ideas behind the practice of The Way are eternal, in a sense, given that they reflect life itself. So to me it seems very natural, and exciting! to contemplate exploring how these philosophies might impact our world throughout time.

Rum Punch Regrets by Anne Kemp

I was very excited when Anne Kemp requested to go on tour with CLP Blog Tours. I was crushing on her Abby George series, and couldn’t wait to dive into Rum Punch Regrets. As a travel lover, I was ecstatic to find out the novel was based in the Caribbean. The MC is thirty year old Abby George, who has been having some pretty rough weeks. Her mother passed away, she lost her job, and she was dumped by her fiancé. Whew! Her luck seems to be turning around when her sister offers to send her to the Caribbean to help clear up some mysterious baggage that she seemed to leave behind. Abby jumps at the chance to clear her head – but everything gets foggy upon arrival. Seems her sister forgot to mention she owned and was in the process of selling a bed and breakfast….and a few other major family secrets. What a fun read! I loved the setting especially, and the details and pictures painted in my mind were amazing – and really makes me want to plan a vacation! (What’s that – a honeymoon calling my name?!) There was a lot of drama, some hilarious characters, and the mystery was my favorite part. Abby stumbles upon a huge secret while at the B&B, one that is life-changing for her and others. The third book in the series is a must-read, because not everything is tied up neatly at the end. Be sure to also check out the first book, which is a novella titled All Fruits Ripe. I will be anxiously awaiting that release!

A Year to Remember by Shelly Bell

Shelly Bell is currently on tour with CLP Blog Tours and A Year to Remember. Sara Friedman is tired of being single, and something inside her snaps at her younger brother’s wedding. His big day also happens to be her twenty-ninth birthday, and Sara drunkenly announces to 300 wedding guests that she will be married by her thirtieth. When someone so kindly records her “speech” and puts in on YouTube, Sara goes viral. With a national morning show offering to help her one year journey of finding a husband and her best friend Missy backing her up, Sara dives in head first into the dating game. She accepts blind dates, tries her hand at internet dating, and finds the meaning of soul mate where she least expects it. Sara also happens to be a food addict, and has struggled with her weight throughout her life. She is determined to shed the pounds while she searches for her Mr. Right – but will thin equal happiness?
I loved the beginning of this book, and was immediately hooked by Sara’s story. Even though I have never struggled with weight or had an unhealthy relationship with food, I still felt like Sara was very relatable, which makes for a great MC in my eyes. The ending of the book took a different turn. While I knew Sara was struggling with food and that was clearly part of the plot, the ending seemed to only focus on that, and I found my interest waning a bit. But I still highly enjoyed this book, and I would recommend!
