A subscriber comment came through challenging me to choose a top favorite makeup product that I tried last year within each category. What is the best foundation I tried? The top blush? And so on. I loved this request so much – challenge accepted! Some of these may not be a holy grail for me, but are the best that I tried throughout the year.
Let’s kick this off in a big way! The number 1 eyeshadow palette that I tried in 2021 is hands down the Natasha Denona Retro! If you missed it, I have already ranked every single palette I tried last year, you can watch that – HERE. I tend to always be a big fan of Natasha’s palettes. The formula is just so great, and these mauve tones are right up my alley.
I feel as though I tried a bunch of foundations and skin tints in 2021. I really had to refresh my memory on all that I tried over the year to make sure I chose the top one. In the end, I went with my gut and am giving it to the Urban Decay Stay Naked Hydromaniac foundation. I am such a fan! It has a great medium coverage, while feeling lightweight on the skin. It’s also incredibly long lasting; withstanding the crazy desert heat.
For cheek products, I decided to choose a cream and powder option in each category. For all my recommendations, be sure to watch the YouTube video below. The best cream blush product I tried in 2021 was the Em Cosmetics So Soft blush in Venetian Rose. This formula is ultra blendable! I typically swipe it directly onto my face, and am able to blend it out with anything; a sponge, brush, or my fingers. I can even apply this over top of powder, and use it to touch up later in the day.
Can you guess what snuck in as my favorite lipstick from 2021? It’s the Milani Color Fetish Matte lipstick in Tease. This shade in particular is a classic brown nude, but I’m also just a fan of the formula as a whole. It’s a comfortable matte finish, which a absolutely love, and it reminds me of the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks. Dare I say we’ve found a dupe?
