I have curated the best skin-like foundations in my collection. Spoiler alert: most are not new to me. I test out a lot of foundations, and these are standing the test of time as my favorites. Have a look through your collection and see if you have any older, but amazing foundation you can pull to the forefront. Don’t feel pressured to buy the newest release. In today’s post, I’m sharing a pick for every budget, from drugstore to high-end and luxury.
For me, a skin-like foundation is lighter weight, with a natural finish; a your skin, but better foundation. I reach for these products more often as we’re entering the warmer months. For all 5 foundations I am recommending, be sure to watch the YouTube video below.
Though I do tend to be more of a high-end girl, I’m starting with an affordable option. The Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator $6.49 continues to be an absolute favorite of mine. I bought this last year when it first released. A sheer to medium coverage with a semi-matte finish. It contains hyaluronic acid and vegan squalane. I wear the shade Light Medium, and like to apply this with my damp sponge. This product provides good coverage, and an airbrushed yet natural look to the skin. I’ve also been impressed with the wear time on this product, especially for a drugstore product.
Many compare the Urban Decay Hydromaniac Glowy Tinted Hydrator $29 to the Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator, probably due to their names but I don’t personally find them to be super similar, though this one from Urban Decay is also a favorite of mine. It’s described as a long wearing foundation infused with kombucha filtrate and marula oil for 30% more hydrated skin, medium coverage, and a glowing finish. I have the shade 41. This is more on the medium coverage foundation side of things versus a tinted moisturizer type product. This feels so light weight and looks amazing on my dry skin for such a long time.
Lastly, the Pat McGrath Sublime Perfection Foundation $68. There was a period in time where I would not, could not, shut up about this foundation. This is a long-wearing, customizable foundation with buildable sheer to medium coverage and a natural finish. It seems to have a lot of hit or miss reviews, but it’s a favorite of mine. Yes, this is so expensive, but also so beautiful on the skin. For lighter coverage, I go in with my damp sponge. To amp up with coverage, I’m able to either layer it on itself, or use a foundation brush.
