On Tour: I Know You’re There by Susan Allison-Dean

Susan will be on tour February 24-March 24 with her novel I Know You’re There

In the fall of 1995, 23-year-old Jill Bradley is enjoying a full life as a nurse and is soon to be engaged to her handsome and successful high school sweetheart, Jack. However, Jack and Jill break up when they realize they have changed and no longer share the same goals.

A week later after the break up, Jill volunteers to do a double shift. Driving home later that night, Jill collides head-on with a young couple headed to the hospital to deliver their first child. The couple dies on impact, but the baby is saved. Jill is left unconscious with minor broken bones.

When Jill awakens from her coma, she is devastated by the loss of life and she questions her choice to become a nurse in the first place. Only one person knows the answers to Jill’s questions, her mother, Helen who has been newly diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Helen, however, has been struggling for years on how to share with her daughter information from the past that has made Jill who she is.

When tragedy, betrayal and loss pile too high on Jill’s shoulders she makes an impulsive decision to escape from it all and books a trip to Triton Island. Triton promises to be ‘Heaven on Earth’, according to the poster posted in the travel agency window. There she meets an intriguing dive instructor who introduces her to the world under the sea’s waves. She only finds respite for a short time before she is introduced to trouble in paradise.

I Know You’re There is a story of a nurse’s endurance, the strength of the mother-daughter bond and the question we all ask ourselves at times, Am I on the right path?
