Book Review: The Man Test by Amanda Aksel

the man testI received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

What girl doesn’t want to read about someone who works as a couple’s therapist? I jumped at a chance to read The Man Test, not to mention the cover is fabulous (probably my favorite of the year!)

Marin is a psychologist about to marry the love of her life, until disaster strikes in the form of another woman in her bed. As all women do, she immediately wants to know why these things happen. Marin is on the hunt to prove that ALL men lie and cheat and that it is not the woman’s fault at all.

The test starts out on a guy Marin is familiar with, James. The two meet unexpectedly and James falls hard for her. Although she does like him, she can’t help but feel she must complete her test. With the help of her friend Telly, she sneaks around his house to spy on him and even hires a woman from a company who specializes in trying to seduce men.  James passes all the tests – but can she commit to a real relationship?

I really enjoyed the idea behind this book. Everything flowed so smoothly and nothing was predictable. The main characters are terrific and well developed. Reading this will really make you think about what goes on in men’s minds when they cheat… is it really just a normal instinct for them?

I do wish it was a bit longer and we found out what happened after Marin and James. Maybe a sequel is in order?
