Summary:
From the international bestselling author of Eeny Meeny comes the second thriller in the “truly excellent series”* featuring Detective Helen Grace.
A man’s body is found in an empty house.
A gruesome memento of his murder is sent to his wife and children.
He is the first victim, and Detective Helen Grace knows he will not be the last. But why would a happily married man be this far from home in the dead of night?
The media call it Jack the Ripper in reverse: a serial killer preying on family men who lead hidden double lives.
Helen can sense the fury behind the murders. But what she cannot possibly predict is how volatile this killer is—or what is waiting for her at the end of the chase….
Review:
Pop goes the Weasel is the second book in the Helen Grace series and carries on pretty much where book one ended. Helen Grace while an amazing detective is dealing with demon’s that are sure to catch up with her eventually. But right now she is currently too busy trying to catch what she may well discover to be a serial killer. Someone is killing men seeking out hooker’s and then tearing their hearts out, they don’t keep the hearts, but leave them as creepy gross clues, or more of a “slap in the face” for the poor dead smuck’s family and friends. When it becomes evident that the killings are going to slow down and in fact seem to be increasing, Helen will do whatever she must to find and stop the killer.
There is a lot of dark ugly stuff in this book, I think that makes for a better read, but I always like to warn a reader to be aware of what you will be reading before you begin.
As always this M.J Arlidge writes a fantastic thriller that will keep you guessing who the killer really is until the very end!
