#BookReview: The Suspect by Fiona Barton

the suspectABOUT THE BOOK

When two eighteen-year-old girls go missing in Thailand, their families are thrust into the international spotlight: desperate, bereft, and frantic with worry. What were the girls up to before they disappeared?

Journalist Kate Waters always does everything she can to be first to the story, first with the exclusive, first to discover the truth—and this time is no exception. But she can’t help but think of her own son, whom she hasn’t seen in two years, since he left home to go travelling.

As the case of the missing girls unfolds, they will all find that even this far away, danger can lie closer to home than you might think…

MY REVIEW

I’ve read from Fiona Barton in the past, and was looking forward to diving into THE SUSPECT. I will say the story started just a little slow for me, but it quickly picks up and becomes quite heart-pounding as the book progresses. The story is told from multiple POVs, including one of the missing girls, and it’s a good way to get a look into the mind’s of all the players involved. There is a lot of different angles to the mystery and I was left guessing right up til the end. I did enjoy that we get a few of the past characters from Barton’s library as well, and overall really got on with the story. Would recommend for psychological suspense fans.
