Once again, we can’t believe the tabloids. There have been stories reporting Mary-Kate Olsen is engaged and/or designing her pre-nup, which are inaccurate, Olsen’s rep told People. The 23 year old actress and designer has been dating Nate Lowman since being introduced by mutual friends in 2008. They were most recently seen together at Paris Fashion Week. Olsen’s next acting gig will be along Neil Patrick Harris and Vanessa Hudgens in Beastly.
It’s a girl! Mark Wahlberg confirmed to People at GQ's The Gentleman's Ball at New York's Edison Ballroom on Wednesday the gender of his next child. The 38 year old actor and his wife, Rhea Durham, already have three children together: Ella Rae, 6, Michael, 3 ½, and Brendan Joseph, 13 months. Wahlberg was quoted as saying he believes four is enough, but is leaving the family planning up to his wife, a former model. The couple has not given a due date yet for their fourth child.
Looks like Miley Cyrus’s younger sister is following in her footsteps. Noah Cyrus, who is nine years old, dressed as- well it looks to be a dominatrix at the 2009 Dream Halloween event in Los Angeles. I am not sure why a nine year thinks they need to dress this way, or why the parents would allow her to step foot out of the house looking like that. The internet is abuzz with backlash over this too mature costume, and I agree with every post. First we have to see sixteen year old Miley grind on a stripper pole at the Teen Choice Awards, now we get to deal with her younger siblings dressing way too sexy. All I wonder when I see this is why does Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus think this is okay? Are they that hungry to get their picture taken and make sure their family is in the news that they will subject their daughters to the media scrutiny that they had to have known was going to follow? What a shame.
Michael Jackson’s This Is It is a hit. The film earned a whopping $2.2 million dollars in the late night screenings in North America, the Associated Press has reported. This Is It is filled with clips of Jackson’s last days, when he was preparing for his series of comeback tours set for London. The rehearsal footage shows Jackson and his dancers perfecting their moves, just two days before his death at age 50. According to the Associated Press, Wednesday’s numbers are predicated to double from Tuesday.
Nicole Richie’s contemporary women’s clothing collection is set to premier in February of 2010. The line is named Winter Kate, after Richie’s daughter Harlow Winter Kate Madden. The line will feature mostly tops, vests, and jackets, People.com reports, with colorful vintage-inspired silk, crepe and chiffon. The 37 piece line is inspired by Richie’s own bohemian style, and will also include long slip dresses, asymmetrical short dresses, tunics, a kimono-sleeved maxidress, cotton macrame, suede and silk vests, and a shrunken leather jacket. Winter Kate will be sold in stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ron Herman, Intermix and Kitson.

Fashionably Late by Beth Kendrick has fashion, celebrities, and romance, all with a witty and clever tone. The heroine has a story to tell, coming a long way from a floundering, boring young woman, to becoming a risk-taking, self aware individual. The supporting characters are well written, with unique tales as well, making Fashionably Late an irrestistible chick lit novel.
The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella has funny elements and charming characters, but the plot is a little out there. Kinsella finds a way to pull it off though, easily drawing me into the story and Samantha’s love interest with the gardener who knows she is not truly a housekeeper, and the element of mystery surrounding that unseen memo costing Samantha her career and promotion. Another witty novel from Sophie Kinsella.
