Book Review: Safe by SK Barnett

About the Book

A kidnapped girl survived twelve nightmarish years.
Now she’s safely back home . . . or is she?

Jenny Kristal was six years old when she was snatched off the sidewalk from her quiet suburban neighborhood. Twelve years later, she’s miraculously returned home after escaping her kidnappers—but as her parents and older brother welcome her back, the questions begin to mount. Where has she been all these years? Why is she back now? And is home really the safest place for her . . . or for any of them?

My Review

A thriller with twist after twist, Safe was an intense page turner. Everything felt off about this book, but in a way that made me have to know every last detail. Why did Jenny’s parents seem strange about her homecoming? What was up with her brother? Where did she really go all those years she was missing? As more questions are answered …. even more questions arise. The ending had me totally shocked and a lot saddened, but if you enjoy thrillers this is one for your to read list. There really isn’t a lot more I can say without giving away clues to the plot that I would rather you read for yourself, but keep in mind this book has some pretty dark and disturbing moments if that is not for you.
