Ta-da! April is done! I read “It’s a Kind of Magic” by Carole Matthews. Good book overall, but not my favourite. Worth a read though 🙂
Okie doke…I’ve been reading for the challenge but keep forgetting to post my reviews, so I am going to get caught up and post three reviews in April. Here’s the first one:
A Billion Reasons Why by Kristin Billerbeck
There’s a reason Kristin Billerbeck is known as the queen of Christian chick lit. Her writing is endearing, funny and hard to put down. A Billion Reasons Why was not writtin in first person POV like most of her other books, but it still had a very chick lit feel and I enjoyed it immensely. The hero, Luc, is beyond charming. And there’s a whole 1940’s feel that really gives the book a different vibe and I loved it. Also, New Orleans was the perfect setting for this story. If you are looking for a good, faith-based chick lit read, you won’t go wrong here!
Here’s my second review, which I should have posted in March. Trying to get back on track…
Dining With Joy by Rachel Hauk
This book is inspirational romance with a healthy dose of humor. It is not told in first person POV, but rather alterating POVs of the hero and heroine. I had heard a lot about this book before I read it, so I had high expectations. I wasn’t disappointed. I loved the heroine – Joy, the host of her own cooking show, despite her secret that she can’t cook a thing. In comes the hero like a knight in shining armor, who she hopes will rescue her from her situation. Of course, things don’t happen exactly as she hopes they will. But there are lots of laughs and tender, sweet moments along the way. And I love the Bible verse that Joy has taped inside her car…”My food is to do the will of Him who sent me.”
I look forward to reading the other two books in this series, Sweet Caroline and Love Starts with Elle.
I just posted my review of Kristan Higgin’s new book “My One and Only”. I had a couple problems with it but overall I loved the book.
Have fallen behind with bloggin my book reviews but here is my 10 review – Love Always by Harriet Evans.

Just finished my 7th chick lit this year and my second debut novel.
Thoroughly recommend A Valentine’s Kiss by Lucie Hart
I just finished reading Kristin Hannah’s Night Road. By far this is one of my fav books so far of 2011. Check it out!
This is my review for April. Yay!!! I’m all caught up now!!
Emily and Einstein
By Linda Francis Lee
I could not put this book down. I read it in three days, sneaking as much reading in as I could here and there. It tells the story of Emily, whose husband (total selfish jerk) dies as the beginning of the book, then ends up earning a chance at redemption when he comes back as a scruffy dog.
The premise is not the most creative in the world, and there were issues here and there that didn’t quite make sense, or would normally bother me…but for some reason this book just really worked for me. Even though the more we found out about the husband, gosh, the worse he seemed to get. But I was happy with the ending and I really LOVED the heroine. I found her very inspirational. She had a huge heart and managed to pick herself up time and again and keep going when it looked as if all hope was lost.
Just reviewed MILLIE’S FLING by JILL MANSELL. Great book
Reviewed Heather Wardell’s Seven Exes Are Eight Too Many. 2 thumbs up, 5 stars.
I read one of Melissa Nathan’s books and was so sad to see that she died of breast cancer a few years ago – only 37 years old. Her husband started a book award in her name, though, so her legacy lives on, at least!
just reviewed Jodi Picoult’s Harvesting the Heart, and unfortantally it was a flop for me 🙁
Posted my 8th book;

The reviews are looking good! Thanks to everyone who has posted 🙂
My review for “Luck Be A Lady” by Cathie Linz is up! What a fun book that was, need to go read the rest of her books.
My April Chick Lit Read was from Dee DeTarsi, The Scent of Jade. Also she’s offered two e-book copies of her book to two lucky winners! Check out the review, an interview with her and the contest on my blog:)
I have to admit it, I gushed a little bit in my review of A Modern Witch. You can see it here:

April’s review is another book by Carole Matthews. I was saving this for my holiday in July – but unfortunately the temptation to read it in advance was overwhelming. ‘Let’s Meet On Platform 8’ is a light-hearted but poignant tale about a 30 year old singleton’s encounter with Mr Perfect. Unfortunately Mr Perfect turns out to be married to Mrs Perfect. Even worse, they have two young children. I’m sure most of us have had a brush with a situation like this. However, did you walk away? Meet Teri. Who didn’t. Cue hearts being torn in two and broken dreams. But I won’t spoil the ending…
My latest read was A Place Called Here by Cecilia Ahern (my 8th Chic Lit).I’ve had this book sometime and decided late one evening after finishing my last book to pluck it from the pile. I’m so glad I did. This was an imaginative and well written book and thoroughly recommended.
I’ve just posted my 2nd review for this month and for the challenge. I really like Spa Wars. I could relate to so much in it, which made all the difference.
Hi everyone,
Just posted my review of Swept Off Her Feet by Hester Browne. Loved it!
Nancy
Review #3-Passion & Poppadoms by Nisha Minhas. The title is catchy, but there weren’t many poppadoms in the book! 🙂 4/5
This book started off great but really put me off at the end. It’s one of those, were either you see the literary genius or are horrified by what you’ve read. Very interesting.
I really liked this book. It kept me on my toes for the most part and was more than just light hearted reading. 4/5
I didn’t like this book so much. It could’ve been much better. I got really frustrated with most of the characters. 2/5
Another great book by Chris Manby! I think this was her first book. 4/5
My first Debbie Holt book was a let down. I was intrigued by the synopsis, but not so much by the story.
I didn’t really like Isobel’s Wedding by Sheila O’Flanagan that much. I wish Isobel had been stronger and learned from her mistakes.
I will definitely be looking out for Linda Green’s books! This one was great! 4/5
If you haven’t read Diamonds and Daisies by Bernadette Strachan, I would definitely recommend you do! 🙂
I was almost late to the party in April! I can’t wait to read the other reviews. See y’all in May!
This is the first book of Shari Low’s I’ve read, and I will DEFINITELY be reading more! Check out A Brand New Me for laughs and romance!
I really loved Back After the Break by Anita Notaro. Has anyone noticed that there’s been a change in the focus of chicklit? There aren’t many books out there these days like this one. Most have been turned into either bonkbusters or total tearjerkers. There isn’t much of a balance anymore.
This month I read the novel “A Vintage Affair” by Isabel Wolff. I highly recommend this novel! It was a fun read with an interesting story!
Hi all:

This month, I read THE BOYFRIEND OF THE MONTH CLUB by Marcia Geraci. Here’s my review:
Grace is a member of a small Saturday night book club, but for once, she won’t be able to make it. She has a date with a handsome guy at the best restaurant in Daytona Beach. But after the date goes horribly wrong, and she ends up at the club meeting after all, she makes the proposal for which the book is named. Instead of books, the women will analyze the town’s worst bachelors. As the club grows and gets out of hand, 32-year-old Grace begins to fall in love for real, but with a dentist the club has unfortunately compared to the playboy villain of PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, Mr. Wickham.
Maria Geraci’s spunky novel features a handful of supporting characters who are embroiled in interesting subplots. Geraci has so carefully constructed each that even the most minor of characters and storylines has fulfilled a purpose by the end. The world of the locals of Daytona Beach makes for an interesting setting , especially Grace’s half-Cuban family and the goings on at their failing, but well-loved kitschy Florida tourist shop. An especially delightful touch is Grace’s mischievous alter ego her friends call “Mal Genio.” Sometimes, Mal Genio is just a voice in Grace’s head, but other times, to the delight of the reader, Grace gives into Mal Genio’s devious commands.

I really liked this book!
I had to go find and listen to Tom Jones’s songs after I read this book. I liked both the book and the songs!
This is my first Saralee Rosenburg book, but it won’t be my last! I loved fate and ms. fortune! It was hilarious and the ending was not what I expected! It was great!
Happiness Sold Separately by Libby Street was a great book and I could just not put it down! I’m anxious to read the Accidental It Girl now!
I read “Always the Baker, Never the Bride” by Sandra Bricker. Underwhelming, I’m afraid. =( http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/139495370
Michelle Cunnah’s Confessions of a Serial Dater is an awesome book. It totally blew me away. I’m going to have to go back and read her previous two books!
Congratulations to all of the winners! 🙂
