Delilah Levine has fantasies. About her plumber. Not the usual situation that opens up a chick lit novel, but with off beat characters that make up this story, readers can be assured that they will be laughing while turning the pages. Delilah’s husband, Jason, seems to be less than interested in his wife, spending more and more time at work as a corporate lawyer and picking at every little thing Del does (or doesn’t) do. Their sex life in non-existent and Delilah keeps finding herself having fantasies about the sexy plumber that keeps coming back for “odd” jobs.
The story then takes a bizarre twist. Delilah is trying to get established as a soap opera writer, and after she pitches an idea to her boss, accidents keep happening to her, almost like someone is out to get her. The troubling part- the storyline she pitched was regarding a product that her husband’s company is working on. Could he have something to do with all the “accidents” happening to Delilah? And Ford, the plumber- could he really be an undercover FBI agent doubling as a plumber?
Does She or Doesn’t She by Alisa Kwitney takes some crazy twists and turns throughout the story, sometimes to confusing to stay focused. With so many secrets and unknown identities, the plot can seem almost too farfetched at times, making it hard to be believable. But the heroine is such a great character with her quirks and fantasies, that she becomes lovable the whole way through. I can’t say this was my favorite book, but still an entertaining read.
