The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella

The Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella has funny elements and charming characters, but the plot is a little out there. Kinsella finds a way to pull it off though, easily drawing me into the story and Samantha’s love interest with the gardener who knows she is not truly a housekeeper, and the element of mystery surrounding that unseen memo costing Samantha her career and promotion. Another witty novel from Sophie Kinsella.

Killer Deal by Sheryl J. Anderson

I have to say that I didn’t find Killer Deal quite as exciting and titillating as the first two novels, but I enjoyed following Molly’s story as she tries to get her byline while juggling her boyfriend and personal life. Anderson gives readers another light-hearted read that does an excellent job of mixing mystery and chick lit.

Jillian Michael’s Fitness Ultimatum 2009

I am so excited to buy Jillian Michael’s Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for my Wii system. This interactive system with The Biggest Loser trainer Jillian Michael’s has four different types of workouts one can choose: weight loss, strength training, intervals, and hill climb modes. Users are able to set their intensity and duration of workouts. The customization is great on this program, and you can see your statistics such as weight, calories burned; and see gym alternatives, traveling workouts, food substitutions, and cooking tips. This looks like a great workout, and I think it will be more of a challenge than the Wii fit because the variety and customization that users can utilize. I will post my review as soon as I try it out!

Andre Agassi and His Drug Use

And another celebrity book revealing drug use…welcome Andre Agassi? I didn’t see this one coming, I will admit that, but the thirty-nine year old tennis star admits to using crystal meth in the late 90’s. People Magazine has the interview, in which Agassi talks about his new memoir, Open, and his battle with addiction, his hair loss, the turbulent marriage with actress Brooke Shields, and how he found love with his current wife, Steffi Graf. People will be on newsstands this Friday with the full interview.

Lisa Kudrow to Appear on Cougar Town

One of my new favorite shows, ABC’s Cougar Town starring Courteney Cox Arquette is getting an interesting guest star- Lisa Kudrow. The former Friends will again be working together, People.com reports, with Kudrow playing a dermatologist that Jules (Cox) becomes addicted to her services. Kudrow’s episode is set to air in November.

Hulk Hogan Talks Suicide

Hulk Hogan is joining the list of celebrities writing their memories. My Life Outside the Ring is his tell-all autobiography, and the list of shocking revelations is topped by his confession of almost committing suicide. People.com reports that after his wife Linda filed for divorce in 2007, Hulk was taking Xanax pills and drinking rum- while holding a gun in his hand. The autobiography also has Hulk talking about his steroid and cocaine use, fights with his wife Linda, having an affair with his daughter Brooke’s friend, to finally having found peace and happiness with his girlfriend Jennifer McDaniel. Love the One You’re With by Emily Giffin

As it seems with Giffin’s novels, just when you think you have the plot figured out, it spins in another direction. Love the One You’re With is no different, keeping readers on their toes with compelling drama, heart-stopping moments, and suspense that keeps the story line moving at a fast pace. I found this novel to be fresh and relatable, and really causing me to think about my life and goals, and I love when my readings can have that effect on me.

Halloween Time!

Halloween time is approaching! I for one have always been a fan of the holiday, loving the costumes I get to put myself into and of course- an excuse to eat a ton of candy! My roommate did the unthinkable- bought four bags of mini candy bars and put them in a bowl on our table. She thought we could hand some out come trick or treat time in our neighborhood. Well of course, they are just about gone now, compliments of my huge sweet tooth. We will definitely have to buy more candy if we plan on handing it out! I am still deciding what to dress up as for the costume contest at my hospital job- I’m thinking a giant M&M (my favorite candy!) Hope everyone enjoys the holiday this weekend!
