Book Review: All’s Fair in Love and Weddings by Christine S. Feldman

Reviewer: Annie

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

all fair in love and weddingsSummary:

Prudence Collier spent the better part of her reckless youth proving that she was not aptly named, and unfortunately she burned a few bridges in the process, including where her family is concerned. So when her long-estranged sister invites her to her destination wedding in the Virgin Islands, Prue leaps at the chance to mend at least one broken family relationship and prove that she’s a changed person.

Tucker Davies, on the other hand, has come to the islands for a very different reason: to stop the wedding. As a childhood friend of the groom, he has reason to believe that his friend is about to make a huge mistake and is intent on not letting that happen. One thing he didn’t count on, though, was going up against Prue.

Determined to make up for the past, Prue resolves to keep Tucker from interfering with her sister’s happiness in the present and is willing to go to any lengths necessary to do so. Any. And if that requires a few tiny deceptions here and there, the occasional brush with the local authorities, and perhaps even instigating a barroom brawl, so be it. A sister has to do what a sister has to do.

But so does a friend, and Tucker has no intention of backing down, no matter how aggravating or even—to his surprise—appealing Prudence Collier can be.

The war is on, and neither side believes they can afford to surrender.

Which is a shame, because they’re both beginning to suspect surrendering would be a lot of fun…

Review:

I have learned recently that books do not have to be at least 300 pages to be a worthy read, chuck full of greatness.  All’s Fair in Love and Weddings, is one of these books.  This is a perfect page turner for a quick “couch getaway”.

Christine S. Feldman introduces us to Prue Collier who is about to travel from St. Thomas to St. John by ferry to attend her estranged sister’s (Natalie) destination wedding.  She is determined to mend any broken fences, or rather; the many broken fences.

While still on St. Thomas the car Prue is using breaks down, so she may be late for the Ferry to St. John.  This would not be a good way to begin the whole “I want to make amends with my sister” plan.  She is a total mess trying to come up with a plan to make the ferry, and then along comes Tucker Davies who stops at her “smoking” vehicle to see if she needs help.  After a quick look at the car he determines that her car can’t be repaired quickly, so Tucker takes Prue with him to the Ferry.   By happenstance, he is also taking that ferry, to go to the same wedding!  But, each with their very own agenda.  Very different!

This is where the fun begins.  As I said before, Prue is headed her sister’s wedding to make amends, Tucker is going to try to stop the groom, Shawn from going through with the wedding.  He believes Shawn is making a huge mistake by marrying Natalie.

As you can imagine, sheer madness ensues.  Delicious Madness!

Christine S. Feldman’s story flows with ease.  She uses a lot of wit, wonderful dialogue, and awesome descriptions of both places and interactions between her characters!  This book took me away rather quickly….I could really “see” all that was going on, as if I was a fly on the wall.

This story could not have come at a better time for me here on Long Island, in NY….with the cool autumn weather upon us.  Reading about a sunny vacation destination was just what the prescription I needed.  Oh, what a fun story!
