Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella

Can You Keep a Secret? from Sophie Kinsella, author of the Shopaholic trilogy, serves up another humorous novel that will make you laugh and want to cry all within a few pages. The stories of deceit, love, and scandal will hold your attention, rooting for the heroine who is incredibly believable and easy to sympathize with when her secrets are spilled to the public. I didn’t think the love story was quite as believable, mainly because Jack’s character was a little too in shadows. That aside, the novel was still entertaining and irresistible to put down.

Jason Mesnick Engaged

We all remember Jason Mesnick from The Bachelor, who famously reversed his decision on the popular ABC show to dump his first choice, Melissa Rycroft, and ask Molly Malaney to take him back. The two have been together ever since, handling a long distance relationship from his hometown of Seattle and hers of Milwaukee. People first reported that Jason had popped the question to Molly while they were on a trip to New Zealand, which happened to be the setting where the last episodes of The Bachelor were filmed. The pair stayed at the luxurious lakeside Eichardt’s Private Hotel in Queenstown, and while having a picnic on the Shotover River, Jason slipped the diamond and platinum ring into Molly’s champagne glass. No wedding date has yet been set.

Slighty Engaged by Wendy Markham

Slightly Engaged from Wendy Markham is engaging and comedic, with a fast paced attitude. Tracey is completely believable, a well developed character struggling not to become obsessed with her wedding, keeping those forty pounds off, and trying to get a handle on her career. The plot is smooth flowing and be sure to pick this up for a relaxing and light hearted read.

Sheryl J. Anderson

Sheryl J. Anderson always wanted to write a novel. It just took her longer than most to get there. She now has four mystery novels in print, all revolving around Molly Forrester and the Killer series. The four titles are: Killer Heels, Killer Cocktail, Killer Deal, and Killer Riff. All follow a murder (or murders) with the stiletto wearing, cocktail sipping Molly Forrester hot on the trail in efforts to crack the case and write the best story. Each novel is written with the characters leaping from the pages and into your imagination, trying to solve the mystery before even Molly can.

Summer in the City by Robyn Sisman

Summer in the City by Robyn Sisman introduces us to Susan Wilding, the struggling Londoner who is ready to give up on men, and Lloyd Rockwell, the New Yorker living the good life with his perfect girlfriend. Both Suze and Lloyd are working for the advertising agency Scheinder Fox; Suze trying valiantly to work her way up by showcasing her creative graphic talents, and Lloyd enjoying being a well respected hot shot executive at the top of his game. The two are in for an adventure when the company offers them a ‘house-swap’ opportunity, letting them try to adjust to life on the other side of the pond.

Remember Me by Sophie Kinsella

Sophie Kinsella nails it again with Remember Me. Not only is there humor, a light hearted spirit, but the reader feels the frustration and urgency Lexi is struggling with throughout the chapters. We want her to regain her memory; we want to know just as bad as she does how she got to this unfamiliar place. The characters are relatable and the plot is witty and fast paced, a real page turner while new events and surprises are uncovered.

The Bachelorette Party by Karen McCullah Lutz

The Bachelorette Party was one of the first novels that helped reel me in to the chick lit genre. The cover resembled a journal with confetti festively covering it, and (judging the book by its cover) it was going to be a treat. Karen McCullah Lutz co-wrote movies such as Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You, and She’s the Man, which only amped my anticipation higher to dive right in.
